Facebook - a tool for YOU?

Is Facebook your friend? Or is it your enemy? I see people all the time griping about facebook, deleting people or themselves, or even worse, FRIENDING people who they don't like, who annoy them, or who rag on them constantly and they have to watch everything they say in front of these people and yet they ALLOW them to stay friended!! WHY invite people who torture you into your life and onto your facebook?! I don't get it. I have some people who friend their enemies and as such they are known as 'frenemies'. Yes, I get the whole 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer' but I don't really think that's what people are doing here. THEN you have the unfortunate people who have family on facebook and they friend each and every one of them, even though they KNOW these family members will gossip together about what you post, comment on, etc. They may even come over to your wall and attack you for what you post or comment on because they don't LIKE it or they think you shouldn't or that it somehow reflects on them. What a bunch of hooey. My facebook is a TOOL. For ME. Just like my cell phone is a tool. FOR ME. I use facebook the way *I* want to use it. I say what I want on my wall AND I say what I want in various comments elsewhere. That's my right and my business, just as it is your right and your business. Other people really have no business trying to censor anything you say on your own wall. They also don't really have any business trying to censor or control what you say elsewhere. Can anybody say 'overstepping your boundaries'?! Egads, people. Bottom line - do you friend and/or keep friended people who whine and moan at you for what you post? Do they try to censor you or make you feel guilty? Do you actually LET them? Why not delete them? Better yet, why did you even agree to friend them in the first place??

hi, Facebook for me is a tool, because of this social networking i can communicate to my friends, relatives and family every where in the world, and even they are far with me we can still talk and see their updated pictures, and aside from that even some of my friends lost for a long time at facebook we met and see each other through of it.

Facebook is a tool for me too. As I have an online store I use it for business promotion through our business page, plus I sometimes post business stuff on my personal profile page. I also see it as a tool for keeping in touch with family and friends who are spread throughout the country and world. I know a lot of people have negative thoughts about Facebook for some people waste time playing silly FB games and they get into arguments or get nasty comments just like what you are talking about. For me though, I never experience any of that negativity. I have had some healthy debates on there in comments, but never anything that has gotten nasty. I guess it comes down to the personal nature of each person. I often see discussions about nastiness here too, but personally I have never experienced it.

The good thing about facebook is the connection we had with friends whom we may forgot or lost, or found, whatever. Of course, nobody would dictate us what to do with our account. It's our freedom to do what we want to do with facebook, and also the freedom to say or write what we want. If there are people who try to police us, the final decision is still in us. I do unfriend some unkind people who just want to harass and annoy me. Especially those who requested to be friends and do something that I think is not good for me. Have a good day ahead.
