Another right winger makes a stupid statement. And republicans defend him.

Ted Nugent, who is a great musician, but wears his emotions on his sleeve made a VERY questionable (if not illegal) statement at the NRA conference this last weekend. He claimed the he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama is reelected. Now no one really knows WHO he is referring to when he says "he", but it is a 50/50 guess. He is now being investigated by the Secret Service for the comments he said, but his right wing friends don't see a problem with what he said. Jim Inhofe claimed the Nugent was talking about himself being dead, but when he was question later about what Nugent meant Inhofe sounded more like he was either drunk, or completely confused “I just didn't hear that because that's not what he said and it is confusing because it's hard to say, why would he be dead -- and now we're talking about Ted, not the president -- and I didn't quite understand it." Do you think that Nugent was talking about the president being dead, or himself (now remember that Nugent refers to himself in third person often if you listen to the audio under the story he does it a few times)? And, do you think that Ted Nugent's income will be hurt by these comments (he does a TV show, and many concerts still)?

Ok...no one else has said it yet...so I will, who gives a rat's a$$. Seriously, who cares? Why is this even a story? It never ceases to amaze me. This nation has become nothing more than a pathetic sheep pen. "OH_NOHZ!!! SOME DUDEZ WID A GIT-AR SAID MEAN TINGS BOUT DA PRESIDENT!!!!"
Good freaking god people, get over yourselves. Is here seriously nothing more pressing? Does anyone honestly believe that Ted Nugent is going to assassinate the president? If they do, than this country is even more stupid than I feared.

It's only a story because Ted is a conservative and Obama is a Democrat. And even though Ted said nothing even like a threat, there are some seriously deranged liberals out there who find EVERY form of free speech from a conservative to be a threat.
Of course, if Ted had said something about assassinating the president, you'd have to admit he was one heck of a guy for not being sneaky about it. Hate to see the secret service have to leave their hotel parties for little things like tracking down assassins.

Rollo, so when Hilary Rosen said what she did about Ann Romney that wasn't freedom of speech? You right wingers went off on here, yet she was just doing what Ted was doing. Except for one thing: Hilary are FACTUAL that Ann Romney NEVER worked outside the house. Ted Nugent has no FACTUAL EVIDENCE that he would be incarcerated, or killed if Obama is reelected. Unless you can find proof for him?

I would have to agree with you that such talk in not what we need. We don't know exactly what he was referring to but the speculation is not good. Gov Romney is right that we need more civility in the election. Unlike President Obama, Gov has called for Civility, who was silent on the Remarks of the Labor Union leader Jimmy Hoffa when he called on Union Members to go out and taken them (TEA Party) out.
Lets talk about the issues.

Bob, I never heard Jimmy Hoffa say that. But, I think everyone can agree that it is the number one goal of republicans to take out unions. There is no secret about that, and they will come out and tell anyone that listens.
I agree there should be more Civility in politics, and what Ted has said in his last to appearances is NOT Civility.

Deb, NO Ted was talking about the DREAMS he has a night. An issue would have to have some sort of validity at the basis, and none of you right wingers have shown me one example of ANY American being jailed, or killed because they didn't agree with Obama. This isn't and ISSUE, it is a DREAM!!!!

Ted Nugent WAS talking about the issues. And the Democrats are upest. THAT in itself IS an issue.

The Secret Service investigation will probably only make him more popular at this point. His audience is to a specific group of people and this just makes him that more "lovable" or notorious, depending on what side you are on. Personally, I don't listen to his stuff.
I actually have more issue with Hilary Rosen but she is also a DNC adviser. Frankly, I am surprised she still has a job and a cushy one at that.

There's rumors she did it on purpose, to create a controversy. Can't say if I believe it or not. And btw, that was from mainstream media, not FOX. lol

It is good that the Secret Service investigates this just to show people that anything questionable said about a president will be looked at.
I really don't think that Hilary Rosen said anything about people being put in jail or dying. But, I might have missed that.

no, sierras236 said what Hilary Rosen said about Ann Romney, he had more issue with that than what was said at the NRA meeting.

As Debra pointed out, Ted used the first person "I will", not the third person in his statement. Perhaps Ted refers to himself in the third person on occasion, I will take your word for that, but I doubt very strongly that he refers to Obama in the first person.
I think it's insane that while the Secret Service has agents partying with call girls with the president's itinerary in the hotel room, that they have time to investigate free speech.
Ted Nugent is not some underground terrorist plotting to kill the president. He's vocal, well-known and completely open about his opinions. Anyone who sees this statement as a direct threat against the president has been in a pounce position for years, just waiting for a wacky conclusion to leap upon. Sounds like a case of cat scratch fever.

Okay Debater, now before you collapse in an apoplectic fit (whenever I read that many words in ALL CAPS in a post, I imagine shouting and foaming at the mouth - you might be very calm and reasoned in your replies, but it doesn't look that way when you YELL so many times with multiple exclamation marks), be advised that the Secret Service has closed this investigation and well... nothing.
Nothing. No threats. No charges. Nothing. Free Speech, not a crime. Even if he's Ted Nugent who isn't a liberal.
So, no worries. Ted wasn't threatening anybody. But if you insist on reading the news at the HuffPo, you're bound to find tempests in every tea pot, or TEA Party. The only reason some people exist is to try to whip everyone into a frenzy by purposely misreporting and blowing things out of proportion.

Rollo, you don't have to take my word for it, you can listen to the audio at the bottom of the link I supplied. He refers to himself in third person twice.
It is the JOB of the Secret Service to investigate ANY threat made on the president. You might think that it is free speech, but it is actually ILLEGAL to threaten the president, even if he is a LIBERAL!!!!
Ted has made some very odd, and incoherent comments in the past (again, just listen to the audio in the link). I have no idea what he was talking about because the audio has been removed from the NRA site, and I haven't found anyone else that has the audio of this speech. It is good that the Secret Service is investigating this so people will know what he mean. Plain and simple.

Ted Nugget is one of those people that says what think and doesnt pretty it up for anyone. Those types tend to cause waves and ruffle feahers.I took his comment as he was talking about himself, not the president. Really I have not paid that much attention to it. He is a wonderful musician...I could care less what his opinion is on politics. But I feel that way about all celebrities when they talk about politics.
Big deal being made over nothing in my opinion. How many celebrities say if this person or that person gets elected they are leaving the country..guess what...none have left that I know of. Hyperbole...nothing more.

I agree that Ted is a great musician. But, what surprised me was how calm Ted was while talking about this, and how passionate/scary he is about the president and democrats. There is a link above of this talk, and it sounds more like a militia rally. I don't know what he meant by "chop their heads off", but it just doesn't sound good at all.

He is passionate about his beliefs. So what. A lot of people on all sides are. As I said before...big deal over nothing. Don't like what he is saying? Don't listen to him. Simple as that.

When a Governor-General sacked an elected government in Australia at the wish of the opposition leader on a somewhat specious excuse, a lot of people, myself included, were adamant there would be blood in the streets. There wasn't. People shoot their mouths off when emotionally aroused.

grandpa, it just goes to show you that people HAVE TO think for themselves. I've seen things on Fox I did not agree with too. That can happen, cause I ACTUALLY think for myself. I don't take ANYONES word for anything. But that doesn't prevent me from reading or viewing Fox, why? Because I CAN THINK and discern what is true and what is not, I don't have to be afraid of someone's opinion because I am free to accept or reject it.

If anyone's worried about blood in the streets I don't see it. lol
Then New Black Panthers promised to make it happen and hardly anyone noticed but that hated pesky right wing news network that the president wants off the air. Fox News.
