I got so angry that the termites ate all the photos, books some important papers in my bedroom! We treated it already and was hoping that it wouldn't come back anymore. I kept all my baby's photos all these years and just ruined by these termites! Ugh! What am I gonna do to get rid of this termites? It ruined all my books already last year, and now they ruined another stuff. We just treated our house 2 months ago. And why aren't they gone?

I'm sorry to hear that the termites are destroying your things. I've heard that termites can be awfully hard to get rid of. I hope that other individuals who have experienced termite problems will be able to give you more information about how to get rid of them. If you don't hear anything particular do some research online I'm sure there has to be something out there that will work.

Yeah if you have a landlord she should be taking care of that as soon as possible. And she should strive to be more thorough about it since they are destroying your things and will more than likely ruin the home if she doesn't take care of it. I hope that she gets on top of it soon and that they will be destroyed.

Sorry to hear that, it seems they can never be cure but to poison the soil where they live in. There are lots of termites in my home too, little by little they eat my books and notebooks that I wanted to keep. Maybe you can put your things into metal cabinet, that's the safest box I can think of.

Did you treat it on your own or you hired a professional terminator to do it? If you hired a professional terminator to do it then you still have a warranty and call them again. Termites could grow fast and really they can spread everywhere. There might have been areas that weren't treated. And they grow fast on moist.

Its bad about the damage they have done to your stuffs. But, LOL. 'Terminator' and you brought the termites..lol. I don't think the so called nephew is good as as a 'Terminator'. Why don't you guys seek for a professional instead even if that may lead you to pay that something extra. These landlords/landlady are mostly selfish and do for nothing.

No, our landlady's nephew was the one who treated the house. According to the landlady, her nephew knew how to treat the house! We told her to hire a professional but she insisted coz she did't want to spend money on her apartment since her nephew knew how to treat it! She even told us that maybe we were the one brought the termites because we are the only tenants in this apartment who has a termites! LOL

Irresponsible people like to blame others for their own problems, and the landlady saying that you brought them in there was nothing short of unprofessional. But she is responsible for taking care of the place so she should have been told this time to hire a professional to get rid of the termites. I didn't know they could eat photos, the problem must be severe. You should sue her for the loss of your precious photos, as she was supposed to hire her nephew to do it right the first time and they returned, if in fact he even did anything that is--but I don't think it would hold up in court.

You should be under warranty if you were truly treated for termites two months ago. You do know that just spraying doesn't take care or it, the place needs to be tented and fumigated for a couple days. I would suggest putting your photos in plastic containers with air tight lids to keep the bugs out.

This bugs are some really hard to get rid of, you can kill all the termites you want, but,if you do not destroy the queen, like in an ant-nest, there will be the same problem over and over again, what you can do is to replace all the wooden parts of your house, attacked by this insects, is quite expensive but is the best way, there are also some bug killers that penetrate the wood, but, you have to fumigate several times, and is kind of dangerous where there are kids or pets.

We also encountered termites problem before. Well, I was not aware of them before until I noticed that the number of big ants with wings increases in our house. I still remember that every afternoon up to evening, I cannot work inside my room because flying ants seem to be attracted with lights. I did not know what was happening. I thought that thing were normal until my parents told me they were termites. Then, one day, mom told me that the roof of our ceiling were so weak that it seemed it will fall down. When dad checked it, a great number of termites surprised us.
We found out that termites do not limit themselves to the wood; they also damage paper, cloth, carpets and other cellulosic materials. When termites already penetrated a house or a building, the first action is usually to destroy the colony with insecticides then remove far away the affected areas.

Hi Chicgale, that sounds very bad.
You might want to get the professionals to do it.
If not, you have to read up, and get strong chemicals to kill all the termites, and make sure you spray the insecticides a few weeks later as a precaution.
It is so sad to see how destructive the termites can be.

Sounds to me it did not work since they are back. I know many insects get stronger and it's hard to get rid of. Might be you have to do it more frequently. Not wait when you see them show up. I really feel sorry they ruined your books and now photo's as well.

I hate termites, they eat things and keeps on coming back. You better try to call a pest control to eliminate those termites.

Hmm try to consult a pest terminator you need their help this time. This pest really hard to get rid off. It happened to my grandma's house in the province and their out of control, someone manage to consult a pest control agency and they give some chemicals for them to kill. Only it needs proper maintenance so they will come back.
