Help Please! My computer died!LOL

No really my vista machine quit, I don't have the vista disk it says the operating system is missing. The guy that gave me the computer has long since moved away so I can't ask him. I have two compaq comuters but only one hard drive, problem there is the hard drive I have has 95 on it and the only way I can make it work is to have the mellium disk to make it work. Problem there is I don't have a mellium disk. I have one but it is for a gateway and it won't work on the compaq hard drive. Can anyone tell me where I can find a free copy of the mellium disk? Please help!

What's a mellium disk? Do you mean Windows Millenium?

Yes that is what I am looking for. I have one but it won't work on the compaq computer.Thanks

you can download it too. why don't you install XP or a linux distro? at least some linux distros are really light and are perfect for some basics (music,networking,movies) :)

I think it's illegal to install a "free" operating system on any computer. You can buy them, but they're pricey. It might be just as well to look around for another computer if you can find one inexpensively.

You might call Staples and see what they will do for free. They usually offer at least a diagnoses of problems. You don't have anything to lose in asking.
