He is 95 years old and he is just setting off on a two month trip around Europe. It was only after his wife sadly died that he got interesting in traveling to different countries. I am glad I didn't leave my backpacker days so late. I say better late than never. Many people say they will travel when they retire. What do you think?

Hi Maxine, a 95 years old man is traveling--this is amazing. His will force overpowered age. Yes many jobholders do not get much time to travel. So they want to travel after retirement. Money and time are the important factors for traveling.

Hi my friend Bhanusb. The 95 year old man is still in good health and he is excited to be about to travel around Europe for 8 weeks. It is like owning a horse. The person has either the money or the time but not both. Many people in their 20s and 30s are in their career and they don't get much time off work for traveling. Many retired people are wealthy but they sadly don't have the required strength for traveling.

I think it's great that he is doing that and staying active. Too many times, an older person loses their spouse and they cease living. It's sad to see them just sitting around waiting for their time to go. I have heard many people say 'when I retire....I'm going to.....' however, they retire, and become ill, or not able to travel, or do those things they waited to do. I travel every chance I get, counting the days now to my next road trip!

A colleague said to me when she retired she would travel around the world and go on many adventures. I thought she might not be well enough to do that when she is very old. It is sad when an old person loses his or her spouse and doesn't do anything anymore. He or she isn't having good health by sitting around all the time. Good luck planning your next trip by road.

I'm going to visit Sydney by the end of the year. We are a small group of young and backpacker who have the same interest. Everyone could enjoy the type of travelling as long as one is healthy enough as well as having sufficient time to do it. I do come across friends who wish to enjoy backpacker days after their retirement. But it's sad that some of them were unable to accomplish it due to their health problem. And some had lost their interest in this, whereas some would worry this and that though non of them having financial problem. Of course there are still a few would like to join us always to have the fun and joy experiencing the real fantastic journey Happy posting

Well, for some people like me, occasional travel is possible till children grow up. So, more frequent travel is a better option after 50's.

I think it is something to admire, that this man hasn´t lost his spirit as many people do, when passing throug rough times. I think that if it is something we enjoy we do not have to pospose things until retirement, or other date, life does not belong to us, anyway, we should do things we love, any chance we have, maybe this man, didn´t have the interest, and is doing this to leave behind him old painful memories.

That is awesome. Great to see someone of that age still getting out there and living life to the fullest. Very inspirational. I love backpacking, might have to do it again one day. My wife would not travel that way though.

I am going to Germany in two weeks and it will be the last time I use my passport..I am getting older and don't want to get sick or die in a foreign country and I don't like the long flights anymore....if I do travel and I will..the trips will be smaller....closer to where I live.
