love is life

When I was growing up, I was taught a lot about love and compassion for other people. I was taught about the earned respect for diversity and other cultures. In today's time, I see that a lot of people in my generation or around my age, lack this. For example, you can go into Walmart... go through the checkout line and come to the front of the line and the cashier may start scanning your purchases without even acknowledging your existence first. Rude? Very. How does this make you feel? Most people would consider that particular cashier to have the personality of a rock. Or have you ever been in the hospital where the nurse and/or doctor didn't act like they really cared about your condition or that of your loved one? Or treated you like "just another patient"? Or even as another example, have you ever been in a restaurant and waited on by a waiter/waitress that appeared not to enjoy their job and never checked on your table when needed, but expected a tip at the end? This is because people lack the compassion for others to treat them as if they would want to be treated which is one the oldest rules of all time. I try to instill different morals, ethics and qualities within my daughter while she is still young so that she may grow into a productive, compassionate, caring woman and make a difference within the world just by touching the hearts of others, if they even have hearts by then. How do you react to these type of people? I try not to react negatively to these types, but I don't understand how one could be that way, so it can be quite frustrating at times....

hi, it is an old topic since humen came on the earth. Questions like, how can I love someone,or what should i do to show the LOVE thing to others. Well, for me I don't think it is an easy question to answer.you can follow the religion rules or the basic morality. However, many people is lack of the most important perseption which is "love themself first". so ,let's learn how to love ourselves first, and then maybe you gonna have some clue about the love itself

@kdnater I do truly agree. No one can live without some form of love for something or someone. @peachwanglzilum That is so true! Loving yourself is very important. Self perception reflects in how we treat ourselves and other people around us quite significantly. I try to always treat others how I'd want to be treated or someone in my family that I love. Like if I see an elderly person struggling, I try to help them. For it may be my grandmother struggling with something one day and I'd expect the next person to help her as well. It should just be human nature! Thank you both for commenting! And Happy Memorial Day!!

I worked in the nursing field and one of the things that was the most important to me is that I made sure that every one of my patients was treated as an individual. The reason that I did that is because of the fact that no two people are the same. I really think that a lot of the reason that I was one of the favorite nursing assistants is because of the fact that I would actually take the time to try to listen to all of my patients and show them love and compassion.

That is great! I can say that I've worked in the healthcare field before as well and there's nothing more enlightening than to help someone else. Patients are exactly what they are called.. patient. They are patient and receptive to listen and to equally be listened to! Sometimes I miss that, but then again I don't because working under doctors that do not care about their patients (which was the situation I was in at one point), it can become very stressful. Thanks for sharing!!

I think a lot of people in the modern world seem to be forgetting just how important it is to be nice to others, and this is something that I think is very sad about modern society. One of the things that I have noticed is that when I am on a bus and there are elderly people getting on, the younger people at the front will never stand up and offer them their seat anymore. When I was young, my friends and I would always do this because we thought that it was something that everybody should be doing, but clearly not everybody has the same opinions as we had back then.

Yeah, you're right. I have respect for anyone who displays respect for me no matter how old, what gender, what religion or what ethnic background. Everyone tends to get an innocent until proven guilty card when it comes to me, but generally because I am so virtuous in that respect, anyone who crosses that line will get no more than 1-2 chances. I believe that everyone makes mistakes, but no one can do anymore than what you allow them to do! Thanks for sharing your views!! And Happy Memorial Day!!
