I think that there are two advantages about hostels. One advantage is the price. Hostel dorms or rooms without private bathrooms are especially cheap and it is a great place to spend the night if we want to travel but don't have much money. Another advantage about the hostels is the international atmosphere. We often meet people from many different countries and we can find new friends. I like to talk to the other travellers and hear about the places that they have visited or the places that they plan on visiting in the future. Sometimes I get new inspiration for my own itinerary that way
When I was in a Lithuania I stayed in a hostel owned by a man from Australia. There were lot of other backbackers from around the world and there was a nice common room where we could the use computers, read or just chat. The only negative thing about that place was the bathroom. There was only one bathroom in the entire building, and it was very difficult to get a shower in the morning because the rest of the guests also wanted to use the bathroom.

It was a little annoying that there was only bathroom. I wanted to have a quick shower before I left the hostel in the morning, but 15 other people had the same idea
I don't regret staying there, because I liked the atmosphere at the place, and it was very nice to meet the other backpackers. Our neigbours were from the UK, and in the common room I met backbackers from other countries around the world

I am going to Boston next month for my 50th high school reunion. There is no longer any family or friends in Boston. I was shocked by the prices of hotels. Even the least expensive hotel room was way over $100 per night.
I found a hostel, sort of. it calls itself a hostel and is listed as one of the best hostels in the country or maybe even the world. I would tend to call it a budget hotel. I will have my own simple and basic single room but bathrooms are communal.
I stayed there in 1985 when it was the YWCA. Now it is called 40 Berkeley Street and it is listed as a hostel. My room rate is $60 plus dollars which is considered great for Boston. It is in a good location, very convenient to everything. I will also get a hot breakfast every morning.
I could never be in a dorm of any kind because I am a severe insomniac and I would drive people crazy with my sleep disorder.

Living in Boston is very expensive but people earn more money than in other cities. I was shocked by the price of hotel rooms.
I need my own room because my sleep is so easily disturbed. And then I disturb others.
I feel that I have a great deal and look forward to my trip.

Yes, youth hostels and backpacker hostels offer dorm rooms ideal for backpackers and low spending independent travelers. Some youth hostels have family rooms and some backpacker hostels have double or twin rooms. This sort of accommodation, especially in a dorm, is very cheap. I used to take a sheet sleeping bag and use the hostels duvet or blanket. I had a youth hostel card and a VIP Backpackers in my younger days. A 4 or bed bedded dorm is much nicer than a 10 or 12 bedded dorm. Most youth hostels and some backpacker hostels have a time they close the front door in the evening. I recommend travel guide books which list backpacker hostels. Youth hostels can be found on the Internet on their country's site.

If you are a backpacker you can sleep everywhere including outside, at a farm etc. So why you take a hostel?

Though it's cheap, there are indeed disadvantages. So i think that it is really difficulte to have the bathroom since the price is low.Anyway, this wouldn't stop we exploring the world and communicating with other backpackers.Have a nice trip.
