Those who have watched the movie, Titanic are aware of how much destruction a collision may cause.
The NASA astronomers announced they can now predict with certainty the next major cosmic event to affect our galaxy, sun, and solar system: the titanic collision of our Milky Way galaxy with neighboring Andromeda.
FULL STORY: http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2012/31may_andromeda/
Well many may get scared; I think we should not, because we can’t stop it.
What is your view on this?
Have you watched the movie Titanic, how many times?
Thanks in advance.

The whole history of life on Earth is encompassed in about four billion years. By the time that the Andromeda nebula and our own collide and sort themselves out, the Earth itself will be twice as old as it is today.
Perhaps, indeed, there will be "a new heaven and a new Earth". I only know that I and my children and my children's children will not be there to see it!
Incidentally, if you read the full story, you will see that NASA can't predict with quite the certainty it says at the beginning. There is a small possibility that M33 will reach us first!

Yes nothing can be predicted accurately, just guess work based upon statistics

Right let's worry about pollution and its effect, my place is so hot.

Of course I was not happy to hear of their prediction but no I am not scared for the Earth. I was actually thinking the same thing you said about sorting themselves out owl wings.
In four billion years Andromeda may get knocked off the direct course path with Earth. Yes, it's lined up now directly with our Galaxy, but by then it may not be. I think I'll worry more about pollution now than a collision in four billion years.
Yes I have seen the Titanic many times and absolutely love the movie. I have also read a few books on it and bought two different soundtracks. Great movie.

Thank you for this information..I am not sure whether it will affect our solar system. If it does,Then end of life. But it won't be just like titanic collision. When two gaaxies hit each other they form a new galaxy. They will not get destroyed. But some stars or solar system will be destroyed because of gravity. Some stars will come near us and gravity will pull us and destruction. But both galaxy will survive but some solar system will die.

Actually I have watched the Titanic movie for almost 10 times..Its a movie of love on one side and fate of man kind and cruel dance of the nature. Man can do anything successful but cannot do anything against nature , war or competition between a nature and man always wins the nature!!.. If an asteroid hits earth then its the course of the nature and we humans are helpless..But why me and you are still happily alive is that we believe in the benefit of doubt that the way prediction was made :)

that would be the big bang. i dont think there will be any human being left if this destruction with ever happen. but i hope we are able to invent something to answer this situation.
have a nice day professor.
