For a consumer reasonable reaction, we should ditch the landline, since majority of us have a cell phone, or we could switch to voice over IP service, like magic jack or Ooma. Now, since Verizon, base on my opinion, they aren't making enough money from their customer, they are no longer offer naked DSL, meaning if you only sign up for DSL service, that just not gonna work for them. If you need their DSL service, you also have to sign up their home phone service, like a package comes in 2. As a reasonable customer, what would you do?

Honestly I would ditch Verizon all together. They are running a muck. I just don't understand them. They want more and mor money from the customers and are offering less and less. They are just not worth it. I also have Magic Jack and I love it. And its only 2o dollars a year.

That's how our phone company works too. You have to bundle everything to get decent pricing. They keep sending me notices of how this or that bundle could save me money but they only offer bundles with one of my services and 1-2 other services I don't want. We were joking one day about how many letters people get from them all rubber stamped from "kelly"

It depends of the price. I have a package of 4 : TV, fixed+mobile phone and internet. It is very common here, and you can hardly find a net only provider in France today. The price is attractive, and a lot cheaper that if you take different subscriptions for each service. Examine their offer : there is generally a saving of money in a package.
