As you can see, it is a flat out lie that the left was outspent 7 to 1 in Wisconsin. In fact, considering the money unions spent on things like “voter education”, which are not even tabulated as political activity, the unions probably outspent everyone. We don’t know because they don’t exactly have to disclose it all right now.
But the more important question is “why?” Why did the left immediately seize on this idea that they lost because they were outspent.

Being out spend to me means that there was more support. To get support, you have to get money. It is almost like people are voting with money. So logically the one with more support to win the election will also get more money..
This whole recall was a big waste of money and time, but it sure does make things look better for the republicans.

The democrats just can't accept that the people of Wisconsin chose the man they want for governor. There has to be another reason for Walker's win.

Heaven forbid that they lost because... voters voted against them? Could that be?? Nah... this is their admittance that it's all about money. What the people want is unimportant. They seized on the idea because that's all they understand: How many people money can buy.

As I asked in another discussion why didn't the left raise more money? The people with the money did not want to back something that was not a sure winner. maybe he was not pro Union enough or not liberal enough. People knew what Gov. Walker stood for and what he has done they did not know how Mayor Barrett would do things and they did not want to pay for uncertainty.
One advantage the democrats had in the past was they could count on massive amounts of workers many who were paid by the Unions to help out. During the labor action and during the recall there were many people from outside WI that helped out and it was never counted a a contribution.

You might have a good point except the fact that Hotair is a major conservative blog. If you can show something that is neutral then I might believe you. Every major news source I have read has said Scoot Walker outspent Bennett 7, 71/2 to 1. Raising a historic amount of money from out out of state contributors. The question might be why does the right need to lie after they already won the recall? You guys got what you want. Who cares how you got there? At least that seems to be the countries motto as of late.

and it is totally impossible that the people of WI got what THEY wanted?
I don't know what the truth of the matter is, who spent the most. Go to the liberal blogs and they'll be demonizing the right, and visa versa. DESPITE union spending(which is really just taxpayers money filtered through dues from the members to the grubby greedy hands of the unions)they LOST. and they're looking for a way to SAVE FACE.
and while I'm at it...all those UNION members who don't WANT to be in the union but have to to have a job...their dues went to fund an effort they did not agree with, have you considered that?

Deb I am not defending unions. Some of them have had some bad leadership. Did it ever occur to you they were just playing the game to stay in competition with the greedy big businesses. Unions are probably on the verge of extinction. The sad thing is, with the decline of unions over the last 30 years, has also led to the decline of the middle class. Now with them pretty much out of the way. The middle class will have no voice. Everyone thinks wages for the middle class are stagnant now.

The Unions killed themselves. They really only have themselves to blame. Their real problem is the same as corporations, Greed. They forgot they have to work with their respective corporations. They forgot that they and the corporations share the same goal. They failed to be flexible enough to adapt to the times and forgot to plan for the future when their companies weren't doing so well.
The Unions are hurting themselves more than they are helping their Union members. Ironically, if they focused less on Washington and more on their members, they would be a much better position then they are now.
Their decline can only be blamed on themselves.
