My pilgrimage

I was out on a short pilgrimage with my son, as I felt stressed; we moved by our car, it was air-conditioned; one of the rear sit was modified to make it 30” wide, with extra foam, it was like a bed, where I could lie down comfortably; my son and a driver were there in the front seat; they drove it.
At 12 noon, we took our food in a road side ‘dhaba’ (kind of hotel, where you can eat sitting on a cot); the food is so good, one full meal with so many items (see picture) costs 90 rupees, the same food will cost 200 rupees in a standard hotel.
There was a room to rest, though there was no electricity, the roof was made from green leaves, it was cool, comfortable; we rested there till 5.30pm, next moved for the temple in Puri to pray to God Jagnnath, Balbhadra and their sister Goddess Subhadra. We reached there at 9pm, could get a ‘darsan’ luckily; because from the next day the gate will be closed.
Have you have ever taken food in a road side eatery like ‘dhaba’ during road journey?
Do you like the food they prepare in front of you and serve hot?
Please share your experience if any and comment on this.
Thanks in advance.

hhmm....sounds like a type of "fast food restaurant" only with much better food! We have lots of fast food restaurants in the US of course, but I think this type of roadside eatery is fairly rare here; probably more likely in less populated areas.
We have found them more often in other places we have traveled. The one I remember best as being outstanding was a little roadside eatery in Venezuela, near the top of el Avila outside of Caracas. The food was cheap, plentiful, and very tasty, and the view was spectacular!

Hello my friend Professor2010 Ji,
I think we belong to same likings, as I too enjoyed these kinds of DHABAS on road side, whenever I got opportunities. Almost every year I visit VIndhyavasini (Vindhyachal near Mirzapur- UP), and take something. We get much satisfaction than going to STAR hotel. There it is saffocation in atmosphere with lot of restrictions comparitively in DHABAS with NO restriction with road sode scenerion.
May God bless You and have a great

dear professor,
glad you are home now. am sure you had a nice talking with the Heavenly Father in your pilgrimage and would have reduced or totally eliminated whatever is giving you the stress.
its beautiful that you mentioned of roadside eateries. there are so many here, but i prefer the ones like you had been to. it is mostly in the provinces. there fresh vegies and fish are prepared as viand. and the breeze of clean air.
when you come next time, lets try going to bohol or palawan. hope we find something like that again.
have a great day.'
