In typing,i usually use my left fingers, only the 4 ones.. and i use only 2 of my fingers in my right hand.. I know it is not the proper way but i just got so used to it i find it hard to use my other fingers.. Is it really important to follow the proper typing procedure?

Hi there. Modesty aside, I could use all of my right and left fingers for typing; but this is because I have practiced typing during my college days when we had two Typing subjects, and our professor was quite strict. We even practiced typing blindfolded; well I guess this is an old practice already. But your query as to whether it is important to follow the proper typing procedure regarding the use of all the fingers in both the right and left hand; I believe otherwise. Per observation, I believe that there are some people who can type fast even if they are only using 4 to 6 fingers. Others are even faster than I am when they type. One is my sister (my youngest sibling) and the other is our former technician here in the internet shop. I was really amazed when I found out that they do not use all of their fingers when typing. As long as you can do the typing job, it's really not that essential.

Sadly, we only practiced typing for one semester and we did it blindfold too. But after that i went back to what i was used to. Thank you for your opinion, i type fast if i am nly typing my own words, but if i am copying something.. it is hard..

Typing with all your fingers in the right way not only increases the typing speed but also it will give the proper rest to your hands. You can't feel the difference if you are using the keyboard for 2-3 hours but when the time goes on it matters. Typing in the proper way will also give relief from so many shoulder and neck problems

Personally, I would say that it doesn't matter if we use the entire fingers in typing as long as we achieve our purpose. But if we can still learn the right way, we have to try.
