Heavy parcel not accepted

I had been to post office now to send a gift package to Philippines by registered insured air parcel that weighs 1.800 kilogram, but I was told ‘insured parcel’ to foreign countries are not allowed; next I went to the main post office, there too I was given same answer.
Earlier I have sent small packets to Philippines, USA those weighed around 200 grams, I sent them as ‘registered foreign air letter’, and they always reached safe in 4 weeks’ time.
I don’t want to send through private couriers, they are not trustworthy in my opinion, though good for sending inside India.
Any advice from friends?
Do you send parcels, packets abroad; do they not accept ‘insured’ parcels?
Are you in favor of sending by private courier?
Please share and comment on this.
Thanks in advance.

Hello my friend Professor2010 Ji,
Well, I am not in view to send anything by private, as I send Gifts in 2003 from US, has so far never been recieved by my daughter. While we were in US, our Son send some of my books by parcel and they reached safel. So utilise Govt machinary OR do not send at all. You will have BP more than loosing amount.
May God bless You and have a great

hi professor,
my mom gets a yearly gift of different stuff and canned goods from texas sent by my aunt (my father's sister). there is that "balikbayan box" (balikbayan means return to country). i guess they are sent in the post office and takes about 2 to 3 months to arrive. i guess it is insured because my aunt never complained of lost cargo.
for me, i have sent things to my boss' sister in nevada via courier FedEx. quite expensive but then it gets there and on time.
have a nice day.

Hello Professor 2010. The parcel that you are trying to send to the Philippines is too heavy and it is not suitable to get insured. I use Royal Mail my home country's postal service and private couriers which I find reliable. I sent a parcel to Poland, my friend got the letter but someone stole the gift. When I was in Australia I sent parcels by sea mail. I worked out the lowest cost and made the parcels the right amount. I was sending my own stuff home so I didn't have to carry all of it with me. I sent postcards from South Africa and none of them reached my family and friends. Good luck.

This is quite strange because 1.8kg is nothing. As long as you can pay for the air freight, I think it should be allowed. Perhaps you can send through the express like UPS, Fedex and so on. They are reliable and safe, but the charge is expensive.
I love China

Dear Papa. I guess you are aware of my dilemma with the customs here. I have thought of a plan! I have a stewardess friend who has a scheduled flight sometime October in India and would be staying in Crowne Royal, New Delhi.
Some stewards use their flight as a sideline by offering to carry stuff you intended to buy in India and they will send it to the recepient when they arrive back in Manila. Your recepient here in the PHL would just have to pay them, the question now is how much. As this is a sideline, they actually give that offer to to the highest bidder. For sure, stewards are honest people and that they are actually financially-kept so you dont have to worry about your stuff not being received. In fact, i would be tapping them to help me with the Indian kurtis. We can discuss it when we meet online.
As for the parcel, i have a seller in India via ebay and i advised her to send it out via regular post (uninsured). It arrived more than 2 months hayyyyyy.. but at least it did come. i was really getting worried...

I am aware of this, once i sent important documents to my son through a pilot, he did it free.
Today my son said in his company one man works , he is from Philippines, he sends things to home hidden in packets containing steel samples etc to his mother in Manila, through special couriers, these industrial packets weigh up to 5kilogram.
So I gave it to him, his mother will receive it in a packet marked as ‘INDEPENDECE DAY GIFT’, next she will send. I am happy problem is over.

Namaskar sir,
The only time I had sent any parcel to a foreign country was in 2007 - and I had used Blue Dart to courier some official documents and a laptop to Australia. They belonged to our organization which had its head office at Australia. It was a costly affair but then as things needed to be sent, we had no options. They took around 120 hours to deliver it at Sydney and another 48 hours to deliver to the Addressee. We had to do an affidavit in the court stating the contents and reasons of despatch and also package the stuff at the courier office - this was explicitly told to us by the Courier company people.
Indian Posts do not transfer any electronic or heavy weight freights to other countries - we would never change. They refused us then also and today, I read the same on this discussion too.
