This group has started turning BDU's (or fatigues) into paper so each Veteran that wants to do a page on this very special paper in a special rememberance of having Served our country.
I thought this was really interesting. I still have my fatigues and dress greens. I just cant seem to part with them as they are so special to me.
Maybe in time I will send mine to them.
If you have not heard of this here is the link to the site
Make sure you scroll down so you can actually see how they are making the uniforms into paper.

So other Veterans are you ready to throw your fatigues into the paper program?

I have never heard of this program. I think it is a very unusual and interesting idea. I am amazed that material can be turned into paper. It sounds like most of them have bad memories of their service, and you think fondly of your time, maybe that's why they gave ther uniforms and you can't part with yours yet.

In the 1970's we wore white dress style uniforms. You always had to turn them back in though when you got out of the Army or were switching your Advanced Individual Training (AIT)
Now I see almost every day fatigues is what all the bases wear. I think I am glad to have used the white uniforms with medical.
I will look and see if I can find a picture of the uniform. When they moved the WAC museum from Ft. McClellan, I imagine they changed many things. But the best I remember was getting to see every uniform the women wore since the Civil War.
I fondly remember that museum. And I think sometimes when you try to go bigger and better a lot of the past really does get left behind.
Thanks.
