this weeks dilemma..

iphone - iphone 4 in white

I am completely stuck. I have decided to say goodbye to my trusty blackberry and head on into the world of the iphone. But I’ve come up against a bit of a wall. The deal I have seleted, is offered on 2 phones. Kind of. I can take out the iphone 4s 16gb, in which I get 600 minutes of call time, 500mb of internet, and 3000 texts. Fantastic. And all this for £31 a month. But then, here’s the problem. If I take the slightly lesser phone, the iphone 4 8gb .. for the same price per month, I still get my 600 minutes of call time, but I get UNLIMITED texts, which can be up to 12,000.. and I also get 1GB of internet usage, and free connection up to 2GB to BT open zone wifi.. So I’m completely stumped. Do I take the better phone, even though I’ve been told by people that the only real difference is that its slightly faster, better camera, and more memory. Or do I take the deal that’s better value for money.. decisions decisions.. And I have 1 day to decide on which contract I want because that’s the day I wave bye bye to my blackberry. What do you think of this?

Definitely go for the iPhone 4 8gb. There is not much difference at all, and you get other benefits with this one. Plus 8gb is a lot of memory for a phone, you could store up to 5-6 movies in there. The memory should be adequate and the speed of the phone is not much slower than the 16gb one, its hardly noticeable. This is the deal I would go for, personally.

Wow. Thanks very much. That was a really clear and no nonsense response! You have eased my mind a lot that there is no difference in speed between the 8gb and 16gb and you seem to know what you are talking about. I was thnking that 8gb is probably fine for me, I only really use my phone for songs and pictures, never really videos or films or anything. And I would use the internet more, so that extra 500mb would be really beneficial.

I am glad I can help. Frankly, its your decision, but I just want to tell you what I would do. There are more benefits with the 8gb phone, but only useful if you actually text and use internet that much. I noticed that you get more internet in the 8gb phone, which is a big plus, and also upto 2gb usage on wifi, right? So good deal. I love iPhones, they are very user friendly and a joy. I wish I hadn't sold mine, but unfortunately there was a problem with the screen that was just too expensive to repair. Now I wish I hadn't let it go.

When you get your iphone please download voxer and log in using your facebook account. My name will surely appear on your list then and we could still get in touch with each other. I'd go for the better deal. Good luck.

I will Toni! I'll download all sorts of wee instant messaging things so we can still chat :)

I'm not really the person to ask, as my phone is a basic Nokia my Mum sent me. It doesn't even have a camera. I think she got it in Tescos! My last phone was all singing all dancing and did all sorts of funky stuff, but I never used it for anything funky so it seemed a bit pointless. The mobile signal around here is pants too, so it's just for when I'm out too really. But I bet you can guess which of the two options for your iphone I'd go for? I'd probably never use 12000 texts, but if you do, and the mobile internet would be useful, then I'd definitely go for the better value package rather than the flashier phone.

See to be honest with you, I know I can come across a teeny tiny little bit of a princess.. [this is where you say "No no not at all!" lol!] but the want/need for a really good phone is actually real and not just me being princessy. I spend a lot of my time on my blackberry. I download music, sometimes I mylot, I have ebay apps, apps for my online banking, I play games, I read.. a lot of things. I'm never without my phone, I constantly speak to my sister, my brother in law, my mum, my friends, everyone, all on my phone.. so to have a better phone than I currently have doesn't just obviously make me happy having nice things, it actually quite eases my life lol! And I also have that basic Nokia. It was from tesco's. And I will not knock it, because that trusty little phone has been my back up phone for 3 years and has never let me down! lol!

Hello chicksdigscars I am amused by the second option which claims UNLIMITED tests, but actually limits them to 12,000 texts. Do you think you would send 12,000 texts in a month? Do you text more than you talk? Do you send 3,000 texts a month? Do you plan to use a lot of memory on your phone? For applications? Idk, how about watching video? My brother has the older iphone and he uses it for all sorts of things. Maybe the extra memory would be worth it if you plan to use it for more than talking and texting. For me, the second deal is better.
