It's that time again, the Summer Olympics. I don't watch a lot of it but I always notice that 9 out of 10 Swimmers are white and 9 out of 10 Runners are black people Does that mean white folks can't run and black folks can't swim?

Now that's an interesting observation. Hi, missy, I sort of agree with black folk maybe not swimming a whole lot but there are plenty of white folk who excel at running. It would be interesting to see some actual statistics on the subject. This made me think of Cool Runnings about the Jamaican team who went into the luge events one year. LOL.

That is certainly an age old stereo-type. I think there are talents that rest in certain genetics but I am not sure that color has a lot to do with that these days.

One reason I heard is that swimmers tend to be white because swimming is an expensive sport and if you are good it requires moving your family and lots of travel. Track and field can be done anywhere and most schools offer it as a sport. I have also heard that the muscle and body structure of certain blacks gives them an advantage in running. I have followed distance runners and they tend to be long and lean

Very interesting about the bone structures but I don't agree with swimming being expensive. My dad put me in the lake at age 2 and toughed me how to swim

Hey missy! And "White Men Can't Jump"?I think that those statements are funny! But, when I think about what you said it does seem to have a "ring of truth? It does seem that there are more black runners and white swimmers, but I don't know if that means anything...or does it? There seems to be more black basketball players than white..Yeah Miami Heat!!!!I'm just sayin'
