Is this a side effect?

This is so weird! Okay, this has only been going on since I have been taking the Wellbutrin SR. Now, I've had regular Wellbutrin for years, but not in the last 2 years.. I wasn't on anything. Now something so weird and transient is happening that I can't even explain it.
I even wonder if it is some kind of synesthesia? Where certain senses are perceived in a different way than they really are. The thing is .. that this is very transient.. it has happened only 4 or 5 times now.
It just happened awhile ago tonight. I was emptying the dishwasher to put stuff away. I do this at night and do some other things at night so I don't have to do them in the morning. Like.. I get the coffee pot ready to make my coffee in the morning.. I reload the dishwasher if there is anything left in the sink... anyway....
I was emptying the glasses out of the top, and a glass sort of scraped next to another glass and it made a sound. The sound sounded just like a word spoken by a human being. I forgot what the word was, and it's not really important. Yesterday it happened and the word sounded like "justice." It's enough for me to take notice, because it is so strange. It's not frightening or anything... and I don't think I'm hearing voices, per se... but I do hear an occasional 'voice say a word' when the noise made is just right.. my explanation is that a certain frequency makes a noise and my brain perceives it as a word. I'm just guessing here, but it makes sense.
I didn't mention this to my doc.. I forgot... I talked to her about other things, like getting lost coming to her office when I have driven there hundreds of times. I just live in a different place now and it has just totally freaked me out.. I'm totally disoriented. My doc said this is part of my illness because this is how my mind works.
I wonder if this hearing a word coming from a noise made by dishes, or eating.. even eating.. masticating food sounds louder than usual and it sounds strange. I've even heard a word coming from that noise made by eating and swallowing...
So what could this be? It's not been with me long, but it is very noticeable.
Any ideas? Has this ever happened to you or to anyone you know? It's really embarrassing and I'm embarrassed to even tell my doc about it, if it keeps up. She is going to think I'm loony tunes!

I've never had a seizure. I don't think I have to worry about that. It's an anti-seizure medication. I'm not having the sounds sound like a voice anymore. Don't know what that was but it's gone.

i have heard with some of those kind of meds you can hear things and even do things in your sleep you are not aware of. another reason im afraid to take them. but again, it could be something in that house making a noise and you think its the dishes or something. i do know ive heard things said when no one was around to say them but its usually when im first either doseing or waking up.
i saw where you was talking about seeing things out of the corner of your eye and guess what? my eyes are always pulling strange tricks. i see things for a minute that isnt there and sometimes i dont see what is there.
the kids point that out all the time to me. lol1 person likes this

I'm feeling much better on the meds now. No more crying like before. I guess I can deal with a few voices. Some ness can cause synesthesia. That's when your brain processes stimuli in the wrong way. It's just transient though, so I'm not really bothered. I think it's just certain frequencies if noise that I'm hearing as a voice.
