I had to have a locksmith come & put a new set of door knobs on the room at the end of my carport today. I hadn't been able to lock it for awhile so since we have riff-raff moved into the neighborhood decided i better get it fixed. My freezer is out there plus my new power chair. Sure didn't want anybody getting my food or my new chair. Soooo i called the local locksmith in town. He said he was busy doing alot of this on account of riff-raff moving all over town. He wasn't here 30 minutes & charged me $60. WOW, I wasn't expecting it to be that much. Have u had to use a LOCKSMITH LATELY?

dearest Jo thats ridiculous but I guess it would not be much different here. Didnt need any craftsman recently because my husband can fix most of the stuff that breaks or needs other repairs. I know he saves us quite a bit of money repairing the stuff himself.

I think no matter what, any serviceman that comes to your house, you are lucky to get a bill for less than $100. Most service calls are at least $70 around here, and I am sure some is more now that gas has went up.

Thankfully hubby can usually take care of things like that for us so we haven't had to hire a locksmith in ages. I think the last time I needed a locksmith was when I locked my keys in my car when I was 18.
Couldn't your sons have done it for you?

Well, things are quite different in India and US. Here, we do get labour who perform fitting/carpenting/electrical works at resonable rates. Five years back, it was much cheaper but now the costs are rising. However, they are not as much as in US, or may be in UK, or some other countries. I would have loved to know more of such stuff, but perhaps a cultural indisposition and a personal lack of interest does not make us do it. We recently got one of our ceiling fans repaired, and some electrical switches.

I think you are right anti ,these people really charge a fortune. It will give you peace of mind knowing everything is locked away safe and sound. We are lucky we have a big back garden, where we keep all our stuff ,safely padlocked away.My husband sorts out all that stuff. We have big heavy doors on our sheds,Sliding bolts, padlocks even we have trouble getting our stuff out.Any way considering being a locksmith did consider being a plumber as well have you seen what they charge.

I know it was expensive but in these days and times, we need most everything locked up. The last time I had to use one, I locked my keys in a running car like a big dummy. It was kinda the car's fault too.
Have you ever heard that one before...I am creative huh..but really..it was freezing cold outside and I had to run in the store right fast before work. I thought..ok..I'll leave it running and when I close the door, the electric locks locked the doors! It wasn't supposed to do that. It cost me $100 to have someone come out that early. The person in the store said to call the police..they would do it...but when she called, they said they didn't do it anymore...lol

Yeah, that is pretty good money. Maybe I am in the wrong business too!
I have not had to use a locksmith before, but luckily for me now it I do need one. I have a friend who is one. He would do me a good deal I am pretty sure. It is not what you know but who you know that gets you places these days.
