Stop calling me BRO...

One thing I understand is that the American Language is being turned into mud. From the days of the founding fathers until now, we see this ever growing disrespect. I can understand that in the world outside of the church, a certain type of language is used. But for those of us who are believers, it is to be different. I have so many Christian friends that use this slang that it kills me to hear them talk. They seriously have no idea how uneducated they sound. Some of the words that they use are bro, or sis. As much as I do not like the LDS church, I have to say that they show each other real love and respect in calling one another brother, or sister. I am guilty of using it, and that was before I woke up to how annoying it really is. Seeing that there is a real laziness that keeps us from trying hard to be Christians, I have decided to try and wake others up too. Yes, we as Christians are lazy and complacent, and just have no idea how non-believers see us. Now when you talk your slang, and they walk away shaking their heads, not only have they told you to "kick rocks", but they said it to the very GOD that sent you. Just something to think about when you are out and about. When you go to preach the gospel. Amen???

I do agree that laziness is a sin but please tell me exactly how the slang bro or sis becomes one?

It is used out of common jargon that you hear in the world. The way I see things, choybel, it is what you say, and how you say it. Times may have changed, but the truth of the matter is, in reality, even those who are not Christians look at us as though we are representing something. I know without a doubt, non believers would have more respect for a Christian if they just stopped acting like the non believer. In a Christian chat site I belong to, many people come in to see what is going on. Just to "check it out". Most of them leave because they see how many of the Christians talk to each other. This is no joke. I have watched it happen. That is the reason I stopped doing it. If another Christian, along with a non believer who came in to check it out, gets offended at how other Christians are talking, imagine how the non believer thought. Yes, this may be one site, I am involved in, but I have seen it out here as well. It is a serious deal. To some, like yourself, it may not be. I think that we are called to be different than the world, and show ourselves true to not conform to it. That is all I am saying.

I believe that it is okay as long as no disrespect is meant when saying it. I get your point about the views of people on Christians, but that doesn't necessarily make it always true in this case.

I also find it annoying when I hear people calling others bro or sis. I personally don't want anyone calling me sis unless you are actually my sister. I have a name use it, I'm not your sis. If we happen to be sisters in Christ, then sister is ok but don't call me sis. Just my opinion.

Well, I think there is no big deal in calling others bro or sis. This is also showing us a good manner and right conduct. It seems that calling a person in his own name is weird and disrespect to that person itself...
