Hi guys, wherever you go, you will always be stereotyped. I remember when i went to an educational tour outside of my country, I was stereotyped as good in math and very thrifty because I was Chinese. But all those stereotypes were actually wrong. i am so not good in math. I can't even do Algebra. And I love shopping. So there is nothing thrifty about me haha! happy mylotting

Growing up, my hometown was known more for snobby rich kids. I defied that stereotype every time I met someone from another town during interscholastic sports. I was the person who walked that opposing team on our cross country course for three YEARS because I'm so NOT a snob. Now I've grown up, and I'll be nice to you when we meet, but so help me God, cross me and you'll have an enemy for life!

I understand. Some people are very discriminating just because of where you live or where you go to school. thanks for the response!

It's sad that others choose to judge someone based on someone because they're a little bit different! It's better to learn who the person is first, then make your OWN decision. Imagine if the rest of the world was like this-actually getting to know someone of a different culture? There might be a LOT less hatred in the world.

I used to live in a pretty average neighborhood.. Back in Kindergarten people would bug me at how I would do math and speak in the stereotypical asian voice.. Being Chinese likewise to you, it wasn't the best, but it had its good times. We later moved to a much richer neighborhood, and I soon found out that the rich people aren't what the average neighborhood of mine expected. I kind of expected the rich snobby / bratty children, but it wasn't entirely that. They were very friendly, if not, rather kind to me than the people back in my other neighborhood. Given all the stereotyping, It's probably best to know the person before you start stereotyping all the way. (My Two Cents)

McCreeper- So glad to hear that your fears were abated once the kids got to know you. However, this statement: They were very friendly, if not, rather kind to me than the people back in my other neighborhood. Is that to mean that the kids in your former neighborhood weren't as nice as the kids in your new neighborhood to YOU or to one another? I agree that it is best to take a moment to learn more about someone new before rushing to judge-one of the boys I used to lead around our cross country course in school is still one of my good friends 25 years later!

I become quite discouraged when people are sterotyped into certain groups of people. How can we really give knowing someone for who and what they really are when we have akready judged them because of the sterotyoe they fall into , I think everyone should be given the chance to show their independence and their indivduality in this world.

Well i very much dislike this word- Stereotype. It simply puts a tag on some one and demoralizes that person. people are often stereotyped for several reasons and this is very much bad in itself. Well i have never been stereotyped and hope would never be.
