Godly-glorifying Music

Have you ever wondered if godly music still exists in this wicked world? I just came from a bible study service in our church and the lesson was about how to determine that a certain kind of music is God-glorifying. As i was listening to the preaching, it came to my senses that music has POWER and that listening to the right kind of music as a Christian is vital to my spiritual growth. The message of the lesson really hit me and I was guilty of listening to ungodly music not realizing the adverse effects of such practice. Now let me share to you the determinants of God-glorifying music I. Presence of the Holy Spirit ... When you listen to a certain music, you will know that the Holy Spirit's presence is felt and this music glorifies the Lord. If you are a believer, you will know. II. Its Godly Purpose A. Edifying Others ... The music should inspire and lead others closer to God. The music of this generation is full of evil, offensive and inappropriate messages. These kinds of music should be avoided. B. Expressing one's heart unto the Lord ... Manifesting our love, thankfulness and worship to the Lord through music is wonderful and satisfying especially if one is musically inclined which is basically true to all. When you are in having problems, it's so relieving and peaceful to share it with God. C. Giving Thanks unto God ... There is always a reason to be thankful even when you are a having a bad day. It's just a bad day not a bad life. The fact that we are still breathing and kicking is such a gift and blessing and through music we are able to manifest our gratitude.. III. Should not be associated with worldliness ... As what i have said, we should be alert and conscious of the messages implicitly or explicitly contained in the lyrics of a music piece, no matter how fun and ear-catchy it is.. IV. Has power to drive away evil ... If the kind of music we listen to attracts bad vibes and influences to be worldly, then definitely it is not a God-glorifying kind of music.. These are just some of the determinants of a Godly music, there are a lot more found in the Bible. The bottom line would always be to choose the kind of music that you will glorify the Lord! After all, we are the ones who choose what kind of music we listen to. :) Hope this enlightened y'all!
