Friendster pictures got deleted?

Before Friendster decided to close it down for the game place transition, they sent out notifications to their members that they will be deleting the photos on a certain date. They even suggested to save the pictures before this transition. I didn't bother as I already had backups of the pictures I had posted there.

When I saw the title of your discussion, I thought I had to check Friendster out again for myself as it has been many years now since I logged onto the site. And from what I can see, yes, I think Friendster has indeed become a predominantly game-based site and I am afraid whatever pictures you may have uploaded there is most likely gone. I also see that there is a word "Beta" on the site, and this term normally means that a site is still in the process of development and is not complete yet. So I guess they have closed down the social networking part of the site and reopened the site as a game site. It's a sad case really, because Friendster used to be a very hip and cool social networking site before Facebook came along. I remember very clearly how we all tried to desperately get testimonials from friends; it was fun.

Friendster is still alive? I thought it closed down a long time ago. Come to think of it, I think I still have some photos left on that site. Might as well check it out. Thanks for posting, Olonam.
