I just watched a video where in Jacksonville, Florida a flash mob of 300 kids mobbed a Walmart stealing 1500 dollars worth of merchandise. They also destroyed the security system and scared the employees. I don't understand what is happening in the world today. This is unbelievable and so scary. I just feel you have to be so careful when you leave your home nowadays because you just don't know what is going to happen when you are at a store, the mall or a movie theater. Its like you are not safe anywhere anymore and people are going bonkers. Its a sad state of affairs and shows to me the world is going to hell. Did you here about this? Thoughts or comments welcomed!

I saw a bumper sticker a few years ago that stuck with me and I remember it at times like this. It said "where are we going? and why are we in this handbasket?!"

It is disturbing, I heard about it earlier this week. The radio host telling about it pointing out how funny it was that one guy would grab something then pull his pants up, put something in his pocket and pull his pants up--always pulling up his pants and how ridiculous it was. I heard something else yesterday that might account for a lot of this crime and cruelty. We increasingly isolate ourselves through our electronics. In a roomful of people, most will be texting instead of talking. We never see nature in action or realize where our food comes from or how it's prepared. We are divorced from real life and live in cocoons of non-interaction. Go to any park and see what the moms are going while their children play--they are more likely to be texting or talking on their cell phones than paying attention to the kids or interacting with each other. With such a disconnection from life, it's no wonder that people are maladjusted.

You are so right! I grew up where we went out and played in the backyard. We played everything from Cowboys and Indians to hop scotch. The kids today are always inside and on the computer or watching TV. Horrible state of affairs this world is coming too!

It is also the TV and the internet give access to many things kids better not watch or hear about. How come 300 kids gathered together and just started to rob the store ? I think they communicated through the internet because many phone calls cost a lot of money. In my country , we have security at every shopping center like a mall. The security has cameras , guards and they can always call the police. It is sad that security has to be there though , as long as education is considered as a joke among kids , values are also jokes , we will keep suffering.

Oh, that's really scary. It's like an organized riot. I'd be afraid too if I was an employee there or got mixed in such event. I just hope I wouldn't have to experience something like this.

I was actually wondering about that. I never read the official report of that event, so I assumed the stealing and all the mishaps happened after the flash mob. I know flash mob usually are as you have described it, dedicated to fun and not crime. So I guess that's a confirmation from you, that it's an organized crime and not the kind of flash mob I initially thought.

Hi lelin, I didn't hear about this but I agree it really is scary. There is no doubt but that the world is changing rapidly and no one seems to know what will happen next. Blessings.

People do seem to be reaching the end of their ropes...on many different levels. There is a certain amount of increased caution that all these things make me feel like I need too. I haven't heard about that particular incident, but there are a ton of them right now that relays the same message. I don't want to watch the news because of all the bad things but at the same time..what if I don't and I don't have a clue? It is a scary state of affairs.

We have to be aware of what is going on in the world to help us get through it. There is just to much criminal activity going on and there seems to be no control. So many people have been killed being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now we have to worry about going to a walmart or a theater. Be safe and God Bless!

That is not a flash mob. If they really doing it they won't harm and do any criminal things. Oh, this kids. They have guts to do it publicly maybe because of the number of people they have. It's so wrong. It's hard to identify them since they are doing it in large group.

Yes I heard about this. Too me a flash mob is one of those mobs that sings and does a skit this king of mob was not a good thing. I am just very surprised that they would have even tried anything like this, but still think that Walmart took advantage of the mob and might have blamed things being stolen on the the kids.
