We already know that growing our own food we can eliminate much of our carbon footprint. Well, my mom and dad had a jump on that. He grew the food and she canned and froze it. Believe me the food we grew was huge. A lot came out of a suburban back yard. So two years ago we planted a Honeycrisp apple tree. It has been my job to keep an eye on it and tend to its needs. All the knowledge I have came flooding back to care for a fruit bearing tree. I hadn't thought about apple tree growing since I was in my teens. So I searched for information online and I only found a little on the subject. I found stuff about where it came from and the controversy behind it, etc, etc. But little to nothing about the care of an apple tree! I know more than online resources!? I feel like starting an apple tree care blog!

Hello 2004. When my kids were young we lived on a place that had a nice number of apple trees. We had jelly, crabs, yellow, Macintosh yellow and red Delicious apple. The kids would start eating them as soon as the blooms started forming apples. Though We lived there for a good number of years until the kids all had graduated high school I never learned about caring for the apple trees. They just grew there. You might try an extension office or web site or go to the library.

That's what I'm saying-I tried all my resources I don't have to devote time too. Outside of joining a gardening group I can't get any answers.

We had apple trees when I was growing up but never paid attention to what they did to care for it....I hope you get the info you need! It will pay off in the end.

The funny thing is my dad taught me. Not that I particularly was interested. Dad was a man of few words most of the time so he only told me what I might find particularly insightful. So maybe I'll have apples to share with friends and neighbors soon!
