It's driving me insane that I never get to check it and I get messages every so often and never get the person to return my message since I'm never on and they think I'm ignoring them. What should I do? Is there anyway to leave like an away or vacation message???

if we could only have setting in Facebook an automatic response to all who want to message us if we are not online such as email, but i think we can put some status in our timeline so at least they could know what's going on to us.you should not deactivate your account.

I seldom go on there now, so I know what you mean when you log in there are always people that have sent you messages.
I have kept my account, just incase I want to return to it, but to be honest there has been so many people that try to cause trouble on there that I can not be bothered going on there now.
If people need or want to speak to me, then they know where I live and they know my telephone number.

I am too in favour to post a status that you are not online often. Please leave a message if you wish and let them know that you will get back to them as soon as you can.
It wouldn't be worth deactivating if you have friends or family who live a far distance away.

maybe you should need to post on your wall that you are very busy so they can see that and people will understand you, don't deactivate your account they will think your blocking them.

You can reply their message when you log in and tell them that you seldom log in to your account. You can tell them to just leave their messages but you can only answer them when you log in. I guess you have to keep your Facebook. It's one way to communicate with our family and friends. If you can't attend to their message right away, meybe they can understand you. You are not 24/7 online. Happy myLotting!

Deactivating should not be the path you should opt for solution of this trouble. You would surely have many reasons for continue on face book. Try focusing on that.
As far as your problems are concerned. Believe yourself that you are not intentionally not replying them. I know people who trust you would understand. And yes it would be good if you update an status concerning your non availability and casually apologize to all of them in a friendly manner. If there are few, you can also customize your status so that it comes under the view of them only and no other. Good Luck.
