Earning working experience when you were young

I regret that I didn't work much when I was young, and I was too afraid to try new things, which never give me an opportunity to earn a variety of working experience to strengthen my resume. From what I saw, nowadays, more and more teens taking the summer vacation to earn some money, at the same time, they earn some working experience. For instance, my co - worker's son spent the whole summer at the local retail store to earn extra money, which would provide him some great benefit, such as part - time insurance, and if he keep up his GPA up to A or plus, he will get scholarship from his work to go to college. Not so bad isn't it? So, I strongly encourage some parents should let their teens work and keep up their studies too, which might better prepare them in the future.

hi,
when i was in second year college i have been experienced to be a Student assistant in the Dean's office for a year because i had some free time during my second year,it was a part time job because i was still studying during that time.and i had put it to my resume too.

I think that it is good idea to get work experience when you are still young, because you can benefit from that experience later on and you might find it easier to find a job if you have already had different kinds of jobs. Sometimes you can use the experience from previous jobs in future jobs. I was 14 when I got my first job and that was just a part time job while I was still a student. I think that it was nice to get some work experience and of course I was very happy to get the extra money as well. When I was a nursing student I worked in the vacations. I didn't really do it because I wanted the experience, I did it because I need the money, but am happy that I chose to work.

I agree on you about that, I regret also the days when I'm still young and married in a very young age. I never had a chance to apply for more jobs that I am qualified. Now I'm looking for a job and I think It's too late for me to have one because of my age. Age discrimination is too high here in my country. That's the reason of my eldest daughter she wants to experienced more job to put in her resume so that she can apply for a better job in the future.

i didnt work either as a teen...well not until i was 19. but it was hard and still is hard to get a job because i have no work experience except that and a few volunteer things from a couple of years back. right now i am focusing on raising my baby girl so i am not actively seeking employment. once my daughter goes to school i will try to find a job again. and as for my daughter i will definately encourage her to work as a teen.

King, you are right that we should start earning working experiences when we are still young. I begin my first working experience as a typist. I do part-time typist for my friend's aunt. Later on, i learned and begin my career in administration. One of my friends, she had more than 10 types of working experiences and she is very easy to find job in any field when she apply for job. She is a very lucky person. In short, i think people who had gained more many types of working experiences are easier to find job.

When I was in grade school I started to work as vegetables vendor and really teach me how to handle and count money. Then when I was in high school I decided to work during summer vacation as a cashier in supermarket and the salary quite good because it can support my personal needs, from there I continue working in different restaurants and supermarkets while studying. I earn lots of experience when I was working especially in dealing with customers but now that I am working as a nurse I only deal with patients and treat them too like a customers who need attention and proper care.
