My son did something sweet today..

My 9 year old had $2 from losing teeth. When I said I was going to the store he wanted to come too to buy himself a matchbox car. So we got to the store and he and the 6 year old went off the toy section. A few minutes later they returned, each with a car in hand. The 6 year old told me that the 9 year old was going to buy him a car also instead of buying himself a pack of gum with his 2nd dollar. The 4 year old felt a little left out, so I told the boys to go back and get the youngest a car also. I planned on paying for the 3rd car myself, but I think the 9 year old misunderstood. He came back with a car for the 4 year old and a car for the 6 year old and had put his own back. When I discovered this I told him I'd pay for a car so they could each have one, so he ran back and got his back again. When we got in the car I praised him not only for being generous enough to buy his brother a car instead of some gum, but also sacrificing his own car for his youngest brother! What a sweet boy he can be! Has your child done anything sweet, thoughtful, or kind lately?

Hello kats. Not only did your son do something sweet he also is showing what kind of adult he will be. He is very generous to decide to give up his car for his youngest brother. Sometime you wonder what you did to have a child turn out like that. I know I did. Our kids often surprise us.

Yes Kats we do tend to forget just how good our kids are because we tend to focus on the things they do that we don't want them to do.

My kids are very good kids. Sometimes I forget that. Things like this remind me just how really good and sweet they are.

Great job of raising them, :) it only shows you have guided them well. These kind of traits must be retain and develop. I am the eldest in the family, and I make sure that my younger brothers get the best even if I don't have it. Sacrifice is a key for a long lasting brotherhood and friendship in the family. :)

I totally agree with you. They are raised very well by their parents and they will be good citizens in the future. At a very young age, they already know the value of sacrifice and love for their siblings. :)

Wow! This is great. You don't find children like that much anymore. But they are being raised right by a great mommy and do are learning from you and your husband. I bet you are so proud of him...

He sounds like a very sweet kid. Sounds lke his parents set a great example for him, as he was growing up. I hope the other two children grow up to be just as sweet.

I've been 'training' my oldest son to take care of his younger brother all the time. Not only in playing, but also in other stuff that he needs help at. Like getting water from the fridge, getting the 6-year old's cereal from the cupboard, opening up the water in the sink if his younger brother wants to wash his hands, etc. I've not praised him enough for taking to this role, but he could really be sweet.

My kids do that too. They're pretty good at watching after the younger ones and helping them with stuff. The funny thing is my younger ones are the most independent of the family. They're 4 and 6 and would rather do things for themselves then get someone to do it for them or even help them. My 6 year old knows how to make up a pitcher of juice (the powdered stuff you mix with water) and has made his own oatmeal. The 4 year old makes his own peanut butter sandwiches and apparently likes honey on them.. I don't know where he got that from because no one else in this house likes honey on peanut butter.

Your 4-year old just gave me an idea! I love peanut butter sandwiches. I might try it with honey next time.

Awww sweet kid! Good job in raising a very nice boy like that. Nowadays, kids are getting more selfish. I hope that he will continue to be a sweet little man like that. With your encouragement, of course!

That act would have brought tears to my eyes....what a wonderful big brother! My granddaughter is an only child and they are going through a divorce...they other night I watched her while her daddy went running as he is training for a marathon with his church group of men...well he steps in the door all sweating, beet red and panting....she immediately went to the refrige and gets him a bottle of water without being asked.....he told her how very nice it was to have a daughter who meets him at the door with water for him....it was sweet too....

Adorable Son - Adorable two year old son
Such a wonderful boy. He really made you very proud for being such a nice and sweet boy. It is really nice to see young boys who already know the meaning of being generosity and being the older bro. I don't have kids yet but I really hope to have a kid such as yours. Share us some of your parenting techniques for raising such a sweet son. Thanks.

Such a lovely boy! Mums will be happy and moved to see such sweet scene. I am happy to say that my seven-year old daughter did sweet things , too. I can get a gift from her for each celebration day, birthday, Mother's Day, Women's day, New Year's Day... Her gifts are often pictures she draws, her handwork...
