Why i often heard people saying that outsiders or other people are better than our relatives. Does it mean that, the line which says blood is thicker than water is no longer true ? I have a similar experienced like this , when friends came from travel or from abroad , expect something for them for sure even small size chocolate , they really have for you and in the other side , here is a relative , a blood of my blood , a flesh of my flesh when going home to our hometown , so sad even as small as a bite of chocolate , none could be hand in. See now who is better of the two? Could we still say that relatives are precious and blood is thicker than water.

There is always an exception to any rule, right? Some relatives may be like that but others are thoughtful enough to remember their own relatives. Love and concern is not just measured by the gifts or souvenirs they give when they travel abroad. Let us not be materialistic. Well, just saying, no hating.

hey friend,
to know the answer just compare the expectations you have from your relatives and the other people . leaving relatives ,this thinking also holds on our close friends/ best friends .
the reason is that , as our expectations increase the more we get hurt.
i.e. we expect more from our relatives / good friends and when they do not meet our expectations , we get hurt.

I am not really sure if there is an answer to this. I have friends that I do favor above some of my relatives. I fight with my brothers constantly and never seem to even have a bad word with my friends. My friends do seem to give me more in ways of items or we take turns paying for lunch, but they are not always the first to hop in the car and come to my aid if I am in need. They would rather comfort me by talking over the phone. If I called my brothers up and said something is wrong they would be here regardless of what they are doing, they would just drop it an come. I think it just depends on how the family was raised and how close you really are with them. Even though we fight all the time I know my brothers love me unconditionally.
