I am worried

I am kinda worried now that because I moved into a low rental, I will be getting less money from the social assistance program, my son is worried about that too. If that be the case that both of us are cut, we won't see the rent savings at all. Then I will be forced to continue writing to make the extra money we need to live on. I was kinda hoping that we would not have to.

It seems that the situation should even themselves out. The money you received was to compensate the higher rent you paid in one place. Now that you are living in a lower rental unit that money shouldn't be needed to subsidize your rent payments anymore because it is lower than the other place.

we are hoping it doesn't work that way. But we are not sure. The welfare has many different rules.

I don't know how your social assistance program worked there in Canada. Mine is a given amount that has been caluated each year, and, I get a cost of living raise if possible annaually. If you social assistance is like our Health and Welfare then yes they do go by what your rent and utilities and such are.

Thst is such a bummer. I can see why they do that way but this way you never get ahead. Always seem to be trying to catch up. It is such a frustrating way to live.

Oh no, I am glad it isn't that way here in the states. We draw full amount unless couples are married which is over $500 each. I am hoping things don't change though for you. I know it's gotta be really hard on you as it is. Hopefully you can find other assistances if they do. It's a shame if they do though.

mom, as far as I know, you and steven shouldn't get cut, I have friends who live in low income housing and they didn't get cut at all. But if you're really all that worried about it, either you or steven should call your office and ask whoever answers (you don't need to talk directly to your case worker for that info). Hope this helps soothe your nerves abit

I hope you don't Lise anything. That might have been something to ask about before moving. I think the government wants to make you whole and not give you a profit. That's just a thought.

I had to move regardless, I just wish they don't cut me, because that will mean I will be forced to write again.

I'm not sure how it works in quebec but in ontario it will drop. My friend went from an apartment $800 to her parents at $300 and they dropped it. She tried claiming otherwise and now in trouble with the law.

that situation is different though she is going home to her parents, that is not the case with me, or my son who has always been with me.

Well I hope it doesn't I do know that here they will only give you what you are entitled to and if the rent is more then they give you then you will have to pay the rest (which is my case) But they will only give you what the rent is here so that would happen here as well

here they don't care if your rent is too high they give what they give you but some people say they give you less in a low rental.
