That's how the newscast started the other day, and I thought, oh-oh, Phil's finally checked out. But no, that wasn't it. The dogs. The royal dogs died. Now, I know it's sad when one's pet dies, and we all know how Lizzie likes her doggies, but I don't think this was "Important International News" worthy of alarmist reporting.

Barbara, you had me going there. I thought Phil the Greek had eaten his last moussaka when I saw your headline. Yes, it is just a dog, but I think the reason it made the international news was because it was the one featured in the Bond spoof. Otherwise it would have just made a couple of lines in the middle of the English newspapers. Maybe the excitement of being watched by trillions of viewers around the world was just too much.

Maybe Phil the Greek has drunk the blood of virgins to give him eternal life, but he had to make a sacrifice in return. It was either the wife or the corgis, and as he couldn't have sacrificed the Queen without anyone noticing, he thought he'd better do two dogs instead. I may be wrong, or I may have had too much vodka, but there's something going on there, I think. I'll have another vodka while I think about it.
