After being successful yesterday I tried something else. Everyone knows I am recovering from severe respiratory problems. Last night I put on my portable oxygen and swept the driveway of all the fallen leaves. I had to stop here and there to get my breath but I finished the driveway.
Well just a few minutes ago I came in from a long walk around the block. I turned my oxygen up to 3 liters (I'm normally on 2 liters). My doc said I could turn it up when walking. There is a big hill on this walk and I had to stop about 30 times to catch my breath but I made it. It's about a 3/4 of a mile.
I've lost quite a bit of weight since I got so sick. Maybe the 29 pounds I lost since I was in the hospital helped me do as well as I did today. I used to be able to walk it without stopping. It may take awhile but I'm gonna get to a better level of fitness than ever before. I'll always have scar tissue on my lungs but I want to help my lungs to be more efficient.
I will try to walk at least 3 times a week. I'm so tired of being cooped up here and it felt good to get out.

I am so proud of you! And you are losing weight as well. Great! Keeping up the walking I bet you can make it up the hill without stopping after awhile. Keep it up!

Thanks CelticEagle. I'm still having the pain but when I was walking and several hours later I didn't have any pain. I'm going to keep it up. I'm proud of me too.

Way to go, girl!
Sounds like your determined to make progress, which we should all do when it is health related. Walking is good exercise for losing weight and better for your heart/lungs. Take baby steps and soon you'll be in a marathon!

Sounds great! I once read a book about how important oxygen is for our cells and how it can help to heal almost any disease, so just see to that you get enough oxygen and keep walking!!
Maybe you can add the following great extra anti oxidants that are free and are available everywhere as long as we can have contact with our home planet, the earth.
Here is a video about it and if you make a search with "earthing" among the discussions, you will find one that I started 5 months earlier and read what experience others have about the easiest way to improve our health.

Maybe you also eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and some good cold presse oils, like coconut oil, so the chances are huge that you will get so much better health in the months to come..
Wish you a wonderful life..

Sounds like healthy food, not sure if I have tasted this kind of blueberries, as we have lots of wild blueberries or are called bilberries??
The forests are full of them during the autumn here in Sweden and I know they are very healthy. Lots of flavonoids etc..
I have learned that bananas are very healthy too, and so are all kinds of fruit. One of my friends eats 10 - 15 bananas a day with other fruits and veggies - and this raw food diet has saved his life.
If you can get clean spring water, it might also help. I think this kind of water has some extra oxygen. Some add a few drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide to their water to get more oxygen.

I really am trying to live healthier. I eat blueberries every day twice daily when I have them. Our family has a blueberry farm. I keep them frozen. Tonight I had blueberries, banana and yogurt. The oxygen helps me with my walking and cleaning. I couldn't do it without it.

After hearing my daughter telling me how frightened she was when I went into respiratory failure in the hospital and how they were going to put a tube down me if the bipap didn't work and how she was so scared I was going to die, I just want to make sure I'm here for a long time to come.

hi bunnybon doesn't she? I am using a walker and am so bad about just getting outside for 30 minutes and walking.others here do
it. A walker can help if say you have balance problems. It was
because of my bad fall they put me on a walker.but the truth os it was not my balance that caused the f all bu t someone sp;illed
a cup of coffee on a brown patch of tiles and I came hurryng along and wow my feet went out from under me and I landed
on my face. broke my nose, two s mall cheek bones but twisted
my right knee so badly I was in Care rehab hospital for 20days. Of
course Gold Crest will not admit itbecause they might think I would sue which I would not as I have to stay here.but I find withe the walker I am almost two dependen on it. I want to be able to at least walk to the bathroom and back say with just my quad cane.bunny if
you get a walker do get the slimmer one with the seat in it,my insurance opted for a cheaper seat less version.sad.

I am so glad that you could achieve that which you set your mind to do. Being positive comes along way in helping people recover from sickness or health issues they are facing. In the past I used to have a bad sickness relating to cold and the Doc said I should stay off cold waters and use heater more often. It was a tiresome experience because I couldn't do without cold water, I drink up to 4 liters a day and why would I take hot water so much time, when I do I still felt thirsty a lot. So I still had to switch back to cold water but watched more of what I wore just to prevent that cold.

Hi friend, you have confidence and will power that helped you to achieve a lot. Sad to hear about your health issues, however you take it as challenge and tried your maximum to come out from that. That's good, keep up the will power and come out from the health problems, wish you to get speedy recovery

Good on you!! I also have trouble with my breathing. I'm a smoker and got diagnosed with asthma in my 30's and stupidly continued smoking....working on quitting now and oh my...so so hard. I've cut back drastically and have told my girls to push me to walk with them at night. They do. Sometimes they really do have to push. I work full time and watch my little grandson on my days off so at the end of the day, I"m pretty tired. Still, I do it. They sometimes let me slide but not much. We don't even walk that far but I do get winded. The other night my daughter commented on it because it really is not that far. Over the summer, my 13 yr old grandson and I would walk every nite unless it was storming. He was very pushy which was good. If a balked, he said, "Gram, now you are just being lazy". It worked. I am not a "lazy" person by nature. My daughters challenge me a bit more than he did. We went to two stores the other night and when we came out of the 2nd one, all the power in the city went out. I said, " Oh well, that confirms it...we are heading home." Then the lights came back on and she said.." Oh well, Mom, guess you still have to walk to the convenience store with us. And so we did. The power went out again just after we left and I'm kind of glad we did go forth. The power at home was out most of the night and we had gotten snacks and drinks which was good.

I admire you for the way you persist in taking exercise. You seem to be the type of person that has great willpower. You get out and walk on the regular basis, needless to say plenty of fresh air may contribute to your health.Hang in,you will soon pick up.

When I was a junior high school student,I suffered from severe cough lasting about 3 months,I was skinny. My doctor guessed it may be Tuberculosis. Thank gods, the inspections showed that I just suffered from a lung infection. But I was so down because I faced the entranc exams with my extremly weak body. I was frustrated about life!! My doctor noticed my negative emotions, he said to me:" It will be fine if you think so, just have a faith, my boy!". Then I tried to leave my dieseas out of my mind.I took exercises, I received treatments with hope and pleasure, I imagined myself as a recovering tree in the spring. Finally, the "tree" sprouted and flourished, I recovered and went to a key senior high school. From then on I have kept sporting and I enjoy it. I become strong. Having come through this, I have found it's truth of the saying: hope is always the good thing. I believe you will recover soon because you act positively, and you have strong faith. BEST WISHES!
