Stocking stuffers, again

I'm at it again! I was thinking ahead to Christmas and wondering what kind of stocking stuffers I could knit, so I did a search and found a link to a discussion on myLot. Of course I had to check it out and - amazing! - it was mine! Right here: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1709830.aspx
Anyway, I need inspiration again. Any ideas? My daughter just bought a house and her kitchen cabinets are black with lime green edging. I'm thinking of knitting a green dish cloth and towel set for that. Other than that, my son who is 32 and has everything he would ever wish for (except another hundred books) and my daughter in law - the same thing. She sews and likes fashion. A 15 month old granddaughter this year but surely I can find something for her.
Small things? Unusual or useful or...? Any ideas?

For your son, I would say check out Levenger. They have great gifts for serious readers. I don't think there is anything you could knit that would likely work, unless it is a scarf or gloves in his favorite colors.
For your daughter-in-law, I would say hit Pinterest for inspiration; I am a total Pinterest addict, and I am fairly certain that you will see something on there that resonates with you in regards to who she is and what she likes.
As for the little one, I would say that a sock monkey would be adorable. What kid doesn't love sock monkeys? It doesn't have to be in the traditional colors, either. You could knit one that is in the colors of her nursery or in special colors that hold some special meaning.

Actually, if your DIL is a kid-at-heart as I am, she would probably like a sock monkey, too.

I had never heard of Levenger before, but it looks like an interesting site, thanks!
Pinterest is a good idea, too. I hadn't thought about browsing there.
I made a sock monkey for her already. I should have waited. My DIL wouldn't have appreciated a sock monkey, but my daughter wanted one when she saw the one I made for the baby, so I made her one! I kinda like them myself.
Thanks for the ideas!

All the cool sites I know about are crochet. I have seen a free pattern for a Minnie Mouse hat, complete with ears and bows and a sock monkey hat but both were crochet

For the daughter that bought the house I like your ideas about the dishcloths. You could also get a basket and fill it will things. The son and daughter in law you could get a combined gift like a gift card to a restaurant and offer to babysit while they are out.The baby you could get small toys and maybe diapers and clothes. I hope you figure out some things.

I have also seen knit nylon net scrubbies. I am a crocheter so I would crochet mine but one of our clients makes these scrubbies and knits them. You could do a variety of kitchen items and the lime green sounds smashing. You know a nice knit scarf or a knit hat is good. Hubby really treasures a hat his sister in Canada knit for him. A knit scarf in a light weight specialty yarn would be good for the daughter in law. I have seen some samples in Hobby Lobby made of really unique yarn. Knit soft tubes and make them into "bracelets" for the baby. Stuff them. Put rattly or crinkly things in them. Babies are easy, it is the grown ups that always present the challenge.

A knit nylon scrubbie is a great idea! Maybe I can find net in lime green; that would be cool.
A knit scarf might work for my daughter in law, but I'm not sure. I didn't think about the baby bracelets, but I bet she would like that.
Great ideas, thanks!

That's really cool. For the last couple of years I have had to get inventive with my stocking stuffers. I do them for my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and now my almost newly adopted niece. I get a lot of free samples off of the internet all year, and then put them in each of their stockings, fitting the samples with the person who would best use it. Everyone seems to think it's pretty neat.

Sounds like the 15 month old grandbaby will be the easiest. I really love the idea of the knitted dishtowel set for your daughters kitchen. For Christmas a few years in a row my aunt has taken dish towels and crocheted handle type things on them. They dont match my kitchen but I love them and have them hanging on my oven door. I attached a photo for you.

Do any of them like hats? I have seen so many different hats for kids online - animals, holiday, seasonal, every day hat - that are knitted. What about those scrub things?

I think I am going to knit or crochet hats - like angry birds hats or monkey hats. Hats are quick, somewhat useful, and I can make them quickly.
I just have to get myself in a crafting mode...lately I just haven't felt like starting anything.

I am not into knitting, but my friend knits all the time. She makes dish cloths and matching place mats. For the granddaughter I would knit a blanket for her and a doll. I still have two dolls that my grandmother had knitted me when I was a little girl.
