I have developed cataracts, so scrolling through things like the FAQ are a real chore. So, I will ask other older timers this question: do we get any financial gain for giving or getting BRs? I got a bit slack, and just awarded about thirty or so (and one member got about 8 of them lol, I'm really not chatting her up, she deserved every one of them), so I suppose if I get a big jump in earnings tomorrow, or no jump, the question will be answered, but maybe somebody can clear it for me. There is no more reward for best responses than the feeling the responder has knowing that their comments were picked out of who knows how many others and that the person felt they had the best response. I will admit to needing to go back through my discussions and probably award a few of them myself as a way of recognition to the responder with the best response. Now, I must admit I wonder who got 8 of them lol. As some person once said "curiosity kills the cat", however it is human nature to be curious and thus it is justified. Or it could just be the fact that it is early in the morning and would it not be for school work that needed to be done and taking children to and from school, I would be wondering why on earth I am up this early in the morning. Either way, one can not help but be curious.

The school work that needs doing, is that yours or the kids? Lash

Wait.... mine?!?! Lol. I admit I just checked the moment I read your post and counted all eight of them. Thank you very much. I will admit to being both surprised and glad you enjoy my responses. I rather enjoy your discussions. It has been a very long trying day and that just put a smile on my face. Thank you again. I really needed that. :) Now to go mess with the heads of the 'reactionary' bunch. Joking. Joking. I will be good.... for today.

There is nothing to add here, but honestly I went to check whether I was the one with 8 BRs..lol If you ever plan to get them operated and want to do so in India (it will cost you around 1000 dollars or so), you are welcome to come and stay with us.

It is better to get operated in australia only -- travel expenses and lodging expenses etc. will add to sizable amount. I am coming across this member for the first time in the last two years.

hi ravi oh Grandpa Lash was here for quite awhile then left and ow is back again. I too have a cataract in one eye and then to g et a second opinion from an ophthalmologist as the first one has told me he did not think getting it out would help the vision in myleft eye and and I really think he is wrong.

Ravi Lash has been around for quite sometime. And he is a very nice Australian. :) One of the Indians was abusing me when I was new out here, he took an action immediately and had the post deleted. :) I can never forget that. :) And my offer to him is his lodging expenses out here. He gets to stay at my home, he gets to suffer my cooking. He also gets to grumble about it..lol No charges for all that. @Hatley... You know you are always welcome. I am however not sure whether you can travel across to my place.

I remember when my grandfather had to have cataract surgery. He was so amazed at how much better he could see. (He was seeing with tunnel vision.) Now that was back when they were doing the very first cataract surgeries. It was THE new thing. So I suppose the procedure has been much improved by now. I know my aunt just went in for an outpatient walk-in, walk-out procedure. And she's quite satisfied with her results. (Thank you.)

yes. nowadays no hospitalisation for cataract operation. In Chennai a few hospitals do a certain percentage operations free of charge. Just as long sight comes after 40 years this one also comes after a certain age.

Unfortunately, there's no additional earnings for that. But you get a very overwhelming feeling of, "WOW, I GOT THE BR!". and this would be most especially true when the topic has lots and lots of respondents and you, among all the others, got the BR.

Sadly, we do not earn anything if we award a respondent their comment as the best response. It will be like giving the respondent a pat on the back for sharing his thoughts to all of us which we think are exceptional.

Yes. When we go through on a latter date all the best responses it will be so nice to read and live back in those times. we cannot get back two years but we can live mentally in that time.

No earning for selecting a best response and for writing a best response. But when we start a few discussions we give the pleasure to our friends by selecting their response as best response. also they will motivate us. If you have cataracts problem you can postpone selecting best responses till you get operated.

There are NO earnings, or anything else, connected to giving or receiving a Best Response. When you award it you are doing a good deed and the person receiving it will get that warm fuzzy feeling and Boasting Rights for that particular topic. I am sorry to hear of your cataracts I have them forming too, as well as another problem in my eyes whcih I don't want to dwell on here. Will you be having treatment?

Well, I was going to say pretty much the same as here. Only warm fuzzy feelings? I've been fortunate to not have the cataracts yet. Keeping fingers crossed.

Grandpa, this response pretty much sums it up. So I need to respond no further. Hope you get over your cataract situation soon. Diana, I Bragging Rights will be more apt. Good day to all!

Darn it, I just lost my response in cyberspace, so let's try again. As Diana points out, there is no reward other than a glow for the responder, and a smug feeling of having tidied up the discussion for the OP. I'm always lax with my BRs as well, because I like to give people time to respond. Also, some people are put off once a BR has been given, as they assume - wrongly - that it means the discussion is closed.
