Remember how my son and I were worried that our cheques may be reduced because now we are in a low rental? Well Chrispa was right, they did not touch our cheques. It remains the same. Thank God for that.

That is good news, and one less worry for you.

That is good for both you and your son. I can remember when I was sick and had social security for a time I was always worried that they would cut it back before I was ready. Thankfully they never did and I was able to go back to work, but it was still scary not knowing.

Good to know! I wonder if it's the same in Ontario. My husband and I are living in a bit of a high-rent place based on my income, but we don't want to move because the location is good.

Yes when I was in the last house I had a shelter allowance, because my rent was higher than deemed reasonable for my income. However, when you go into subsidized housing you are not entitled to a shelter allowance.

When was the last time they did a review of your expenses? You might be entitled to more on the Shelter portion.

well it is like the northern states, Vermont, Maine, New York and so on. But Canada is a bit colder still, our winters are like wisconsin and michigan. Our summer season is so short just three months. Spring and Fall can be on the milder side or quite cool.

I guess we were not connected at the time of that post, but thats gret news, that your checks were not disturbed because you moved to a low rental apartment....

I was commenting on your post about being able to sustain your check without any deductions.. I really wasn't referring to Sharon's rent..her rent is really not my business...She is my friend and I don't discuss her business on my mylot...

It is not for nothing, it was a real concern, the welfare has so many different classifications. Years ago they used to pay less when people moved into a low rental, I did not know if that rule had chanced and I didn't want to rock the boat by asking. My son was worried he is the one on welfare. I just get a small little cheque from them to compensate for the difference on disability pension.

Well that's good. It might seem like a big raise in pay since you pay less in rent now.

It is a 229 dollar difference but I won't really see it for a couple of months yet, there is just so much to buy and bills to pay after moving.

That's good to hear. I would have worried about that one myself. Experience with government here is a hard teacher. It is difficult not to be just a little paranoid about it.
