produce netting

I bought some oranges a few days ago from Aldi. Now not thinking about it I left it on the table in the netted bags that they came in. You see Boots love chewing on that netting, especially when the kids have neglected feeding him on the clock like he likes it. And when he's going to be naughty he does that. Though naughty fur-momma me I forgot to take the plastic netted bags off the fruit and get rid of the netting. He's been having this look and acts like he's licking peanutbutter off the roof of his mouth or something. After looking around I'm deducting that's what his problem is in part due to. Hubby says it'll work things out he'll either hock it up and swallow it back down. I tried to look at his mouth but he wouldn't let me get very far. Either way I know he's gotten into other monkeyshine before and was fine but the looking like he's got pb on the roof of his mouth is bothering me. So some prayers he'll be fine and just hock whatever it is up.

He has my prayers! It sounds rather serious, the netting could be wrapped around his teeth and can cause more problems there. If he has managed to swallow some, it can get stuck in his intestines and cause huge problems in that direction too. I would wrap Boots in a towel so that he can't get his paws loose and then I would gently pry open his mouth to check and see if the netting is stuck on his teeth. Don't take it for granted that things will take care of themselves, cats are sturdy creatures but they also are very delicate and can get so sick so quickly. Please take care of the little guy and try to check and make sure that he doesn't have the netting stuck on his teeth or partially down his throat.

I would be concerned that it would go down and he wouldn't be able to pass it. I would probably give the vet's office a call just to be on the safe side. If he shows any signs of discomfort, he will have to go in immediately.
Middle cat here keeps trying to chew cords (mmm... electrifying!), and my boy has an obsession with tape and cardboard. Thankfully, the tape and cardboard have not, to date, caused an issue.

I think you should call the vet and find out what you can do. You never know it could choke him.

I probably would have brought him to a vet ASAP if I couldn't pull it out of his mouth myself. It's far too dangerous not to do something about it. Best case scenario, if he swallows it, I doubt he can digest it and imagine what havoc it will reak on his digestive system.
Eclipse loves chewing on plastic baggies.. like the thicker ones that some foods come in. I don't know why he's fascinated with them but we make sure we keep them all put away.

I've never had any experience with any of my pets getting a hold of the netting that is on the outside of produce. However, it seems that all of our pets love to get into the red wrapper that is around the outside of the slices of bologna. They will actually get into the trash can after that trash and eat it. I've seen them cough it back up and I've seen it work itself through the animal's systems. Thankfully it hasn't hurt them.
Now when I make a bologna sandwich, I take that wrapper stuff straight outside to the dumpster after I've made a sandwich.

its kind of weird to hear, but some kitties have trouble with it and they cant chew and swallow on it with ease, they find it real hard for some times, but if they get used to it,they can control this mouth problem with ease
