It's raining here again in my town and it is almost every morning after I woke up. It's been a week now that I didn't visit the market because of the rain. We have two kinds of market here, the other one is more likely clean and organised only you will expect much higher goods compared to the other market we have. The other market described as messy and disorganize, crowded and sludgy, and for sure I will get wet when it's raining. One thing good with this market is the price of the commodity is cheap and affordable. It just crossed into my mind in which market should I go to the cheap but messy one or to the clean but more expensive in price. Well as many knows how frugal I am of course I went to the cheap one , I don't care with the dirt that will goes into my feet I can clean it when I got home. Important thing that I save money for our food so I can buy more veggies and fruits.

hello, I seldom go to a public market because of a bad experience I had when I was a kid, you know the real big and dirty ones in Manila where I accompany my aunt, as a child, I get dizzy especially in the fish and meat section, to this day I'd rather be the cook than the marketergood thing there is an SM very near our house and a small market in our subdivision that is quite clean.

Yes supermarkets also offer some goods like in the market but it is not fresh as they have in the original market. I hate to go to the dirty market too only I have too since I'm saving my money.

@Belle_of_the_Ball, what happened to me was in Paco market when i was like 6 or 7 years old and living in Malate, Manila, good thing we had "kalamansi" (native lemon) in the basket that we mashed and my aunt made me smell I love my aunt so much that i always carried some of the things for her but from that day, i do not go inside the meat and fish section anymore. The cleanest public wet markets i've been to are San Andres in Malate, Baguio Market and Tagaytay Market where they sell real good native beef with "bulalo" (bone marrow)

Hey louievill :) I also have same experience as yours. I cannot forget the first time I tagged along with my mom to a public market. The smell of the stinky surroundings was stirring at the pit of my stomach. I fought the urge to throw up. I also got dizzy lols! I never went to that wet market since then. I've been to other wet market but it was not as dirty than the first one I went to.

I haven't been to a market for years, we don't have any good markets near us, but I am fortunate in that the supermarket prices for fruits and vegetables are reasonable. I do like going to markets when I go abroad to see all the exotic different types of fruits available.

I would go to the cheap market too. Now more than ever, though, we have to plan our shopping trips very carefully because of the high cost of fuel for the car. It costs a few dollars to cross town so we cannot do that to save a few pennies. My favorite stores, though, save us many dollars every time we go. So I still get to cross town.

Yes, we can always wash ourselves and the fruit and vegetables when we get them home. Cheap and affordable wins out everytime. We have a community garden and will pick some veggies and bring them home, wash them and eat them.

I have discovered lately a market such as the one you mention. It`s a big market in a not so good neighborhood and streets are more dirty than the farmer`s markets near my house. Yet prices are so much cheaper that I have started to go there with a friend and we save a lot of money. We share gas expenses also.

If you are happy with your purchases then going to the cheap one was a suitable choice. If I like the produce etc then I wouldn't mind getting dirty either....as long as I got good prices!

As long as the food isnt tainted and is safe to eat I would go to the place that is lower cost as well. I am glad you were able to save money simply by going to one place over another and you just have to wash your feet. Here in the united states we dont have things like this food has to be sold at places that meet standards of cleanliness or they will be shut down.

I can understand what you do, I would dothis also, I just make very sure I wash everything when I get home. Food which has been cheap in our country is becoming more and more expensive so we have to do what we can to save money.
