Starting to learn how to bake again...

When I was in high school i can bake breads, cakes and cup cakes but when i reached college I got busy with my studies and no time to bake. Years goes by i forgot how to bake and i do not have enough confident in baking too because i became more focus in cooking different kinds of local and international dishes. But now that i am staying home and currently jobless, i am starting to learn how to bake again. I am happy that i still have some bread recipes which i made in the past, i am just hoping it would be the same taste like before or else i will ruin everything and it's a big waste of money... Good luck to me..

I wish I have the time (and less laziness) to do some baking... Every time I go to a bakery, I always think of how much money I would save if I could bake them myself... Some cakes and other things they sell in some bakeries are really overpriced, I think...

I agree some bakeries are taking advantage to their customer and giving a overpriced to their products, i am hoping that i bake a good bread.

Bhebe, same like you it had been quite long i didn't bake. Last year, i just helped my sister to bake some cookies but haven't tried to bake cake on my own yet. But, i plan to bake a cake for this coming new year celebration. I am not sure whether it will comes up right. If not alright, then i think i would consider to buy a cake just for new year celebration. My family likes to eat cakes, when there is any special celebration. Hope your wish to bake cake will become a success. Tell me the outcome of your baking experience, ya...

Hi myfb2009, i baked two different cakes mocha and chocolate last weekend, my husband and friends loves it but i think in my own taste i need little bit practice to make it perfect.

That's nice. It's a nice thing to revisit an old hobby. It feels good to do what we enjoy previously. I hope you can make it even better. Baking can be a good source of income, for you can sell it to yiur friends and to others. I hope you can find a way to have an extra income. Good luck on your baking moment. Thanks

I missed baking... I also used to bake for just some homemade cakes, cookies, and baked pastas. my bestfriend taught me how so I also bought an oven, mixer, and all other paraphernalias. 
but when i was already busy with my work, i eventually stopped baking. i always wished to bake again... but now with having 2 babies at home and being a working mom, i find it difficult to give time to that. but maybe later when my kids grow a little older. i will surely go back baking again.

Like you i bought all the materials needed in baking, i want to learn and enjoy it while I am still have enough time because when i have a baby too in the future for sure I am always busy taking care of her/him and no time to bake too.

take advantage while you still have time... it's really difficult when your times are tight. don't worry because as soon as you know how to, even if you can stop for a period of time, you can still go back baking again. just keep your recipes for you to recall in the future

i've been thinking of baking oatmeal cookies and have even looked up recipes. oh my, i think the last time i baked, i was still a student and using our old oven! anyway, now that you're home and christmas is coming, why don't you sell baked goods or simple snacks to schools, offices and your neighbors?

Hi hereandthere. i love oatmeal cookies and i baked it yesterday. I know that's christmas is coming but i think i can not sell my baked goods since i am just practicing and need more practice first, but when i am good enough i am planning to sell it. But for now my husband and some people who's living on the street are my taster. Have a nice day!

actually, neighbors and students are not picky at all and the easiest to sell to.
some offices also like imperfect looking cookies because they know it's homemade and has real ingredients, not the overly commercialized ones that taste artificial.

Baking is something that you forget when you don`t practice it often. But fortunatly it comes back with the help of some of our favorite recipes. I used to make bread at home and when I retired thought about making homemade bread. But then decided against it as I eat a very small amount of bread so it isn`t worth it.

I agree with you my friend, i thought i forget how to bake since it's been a long time but when i started to read and mix all the ingredients everything came back in my mind and i can able to bake again.

Baking is one of my frustration I can't really bake cause I am not into numbers so I can't even measure a cup or more

Before I am good in baking many years ago but now i have a big doubt to myself, i envy you coz you can make pudding and i dont.
