I don't normally post a discussion like this but I wanted to tell my friends here!! I ran my first marathon (St George) last Saturday in St. George, Utah - and I qualified for BOSTON! I am still wondering what the percentage is of first time marathoners to qualify. My pace team leader said it's very unusual, and the info I was able to find says roughly 8-10% of people MIGHT qualify in any one marathon. It doesn't say anything about how many of those people have run multiple marathons to try and qualify. Anybody who runs and/or number crunches, want to add your two cents? It feels very UnREAL right now... still!! I am actually in the entrant list too, I registered Sat night and had a few nailbiting days of wondering if it was full or if I'd get accepted. WELL... I did it, and so did my friend and favorite running partner. She and I are totally stoked for this, watch for us in April 2013!

How exciting for you! I just saw your other post and it seems you have turned into quite the runner. I applaud your efforts and am proud of you for qualifying for the BOSTON marathon.

Thank you!! I'm glad someone saw this post as a result of the other one. I was guessing nobody knew what BQ meant, I frequent some running forums and that's how most of them refer to it lol.
