ATM without maintaining balance

This morning, I happened to be invited to a forum for OFWs. (I am not an OFW nor a dependent of an OFW. ) It was sponsored by Philam Life and partnered by BPI. I am very happy to open a new savings account and to be given a new ATM card without the hassle of going through the line and waiting for hours just to open an account. I just filled out a BPI form and presented one valid ID After an hour, I got my ATM card. I never got to spend a single centavo for this.

Having an ATM is very convenient compared to always going to the bank whenever we deposit or withdraw. Have a nice day!

That is nice to hear that BPI is doing that fast to process new accounts this day. I wonder what is it called or all of the ATM now are like that with no maintaining balance anymore. I think BPI is a very good bank since they are always improving their system in dealing with their customers.

That's nice...what particular account is that? I hope it is also open here in my city and that we can also open such kind of account without the hassle of maintaining a particular balance on it...

That's great! Usually before you can even open an ATM savings account it would take some queing in line, the waiting, then you have to come down at the branch to claim it. If it is okay not to have a maintaining balance it's even better. I also have my own BPI ATM Savings but since this is a regular one I cannot zero it out, I have to make sure I don't overwithdraw to bring the balance below the maintaining.

Hi doris! Yes some banks are really offering this kind of service. You will only be charged whenever you make a withdrawal or balance inquiry. You are so lucky! I let my office mate get a form from BPI so I could also open an account and they required Php500 ($12.50) initial deposit.
