Do you remember those godawful Cabbage Patch Dolls that first came out in the 1980s? Well, below is an article about a GUY who has been collecting them from then until now. In fact, he has so many that his flat is being taken over by them. No wonder he's single. I don't know about you but I HATED them first time round. I find them a bit creepy as each is unique with its own birth certificate...apparently. Birth certificate or not, I'd rather die than have ONE Cabbage Patch Doll in this house, never mind six hundred. Do you collect strange things like this or have you grown out of it lol. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2215029/Male-Cabbage-Patch-Kids-fan-41-shows-array-600-dolls-amassing-80s.html

A nice, low-cost hobby.

Lets start with the fact that I was well into adulthood by the time those nasty things came into being. Lets also add that I'm no great fan of any doll (unless its an action figure or a horse or a giraffe or a cat....) So, yes, I remember them. I had no use for them. I found my friends who got some just weird. Happily, the person I was living with found them creepy as well... I might add here that I also didn't like Furbies....

Do Furbies talk? I think there were about 4 to the group..or something. If I ever got a doll I used to draw on its face with biro. I guess I wasn't a big fan. I do like bears though. I've seen a few Steiff bears on the Antiques Roadshow and they command huge prices.

Yeah, they talk. I'm so glad the roomie's have had their batteries run down - there was a point where they were in a box and would "wake up and talk" if the box was jolted!

I thought that they were cute. I had one (she's still with my mother--safer than with my darling cats), the Colorforms, a book or two (I think), a couple of little figurines and maybe a few other things. Of course, I accumulated all of that stuff as a child. This guy sounds rather disturbed. Of course, that would be true in the case of any sort of collecting that would interfere with his life on such a scale. It is one thing to be a collector; it is another thing to let it take over your life. When one invests more time and energy into building one's collection than one invests into building relationships with actual human beings, there is a problem.

Well... I'm not certain if that's the only thing he's harming. I certainly wouldn't trust him alone with a child. The entire playing with dolls thing is a little too creepy...

He does sound 'disturbed' doesn't he? He's not harming anyone I suppose, only his chances of bagging a woman, that are seriously diminishing with every day that passes. He even has outfits made for them and spends all his time dressing and undressing them. Hmmm!

I rather like rag dolls as long as they don`t have birth certificates. That is surely a sign of mental illness. I remember people who had a pet rock. I could never understand a need to take care od a rock when there were real people in need.

Mmm, I know what you mean. I had a Loobiloo Doll when I was little. It had very long arms and legs and Mum told me I used to drag it around with me as it was nearly as tall as I was.
