I'm getting good sleep now

As everyone knows I had a bipap machine for a couple of months that was on loan to me until my insurance approved my own. Well, I wasn't fond of the bipap because it didn't help me sleep at all. It made me nervous. So I asked him for the cpap machine and it took some getting used to, but now I am sleeping very well.
I didn't like my full facial mask at first. I had an appointment to change it out. I only have 30 days to change it out without charge, but in that time I got used to the mask and now it doesn't bother me. I had trouble with it leaking, but I don't anymore.
I still wake up to use the bathroom maybe one time during the night, but not always. Sometimes I sleep right on till 6 am before I have to go. Before I was going every hour or just waking up to toss and turn. Now I don't do that. I sleep well now.
I have a modem on this machine that sends computer data to the Apria place. I have to have it on for at least 4 hours a night and the girl said it's picking up fine and that most nights I have it on for 8 hours. I was relieved to hear that because the insurance wouldn't pay if I didn't have it on for at least 4 hours each night. I'm glad I was able to tolerate it and get used to it.

I remember working in the retirement home a few residents had them. I personally wouldn't feel comfrotable enough to fall asleep. One guy we would have to wrap it around the bed, or else once we left he would take it off and stop breathing while sleeping (ending in a call to the ambulance). So glad it is woring for you and you really havent had any issues with it.

It takes time to get used to. I've had it a month almost now, and I'm finally used to the mask. I was going to switch it out, but now I am comfortable with it now.

This should be very reassuring to other people who are considering the same thing. It is something that is really helpful and you can get used to it with time. I am really pleased for you that it is making a difference in the way you rest. I am sure you feel better. It is pretty evident in your discussions.

I'm glad Matt is able to sleep well with it. I don't get tired in the daytime anymore, so I know I'm getting better sleep. I don't wake up every hour like before.

My parents had the same problems when they first got theirs. My dad especially thought he would never get used to the mask. Now, he's gotten to where he doesn't sleep well without it. He can't take a nap without it because it works so well for him now. And neither one of them snores with it now.

I thought I would never get used to the full face mask. All the other masks I tried on leaked or didn't feel good on my face. I would have probably gotten used to them though. Anyway, I'm used to the full mask and I put it on every night around 10 pm and within about 30 minutes or so my eyes are trying to close on me so I just give in and go to sleep. I would never go to sleep that early without it.
I'm glad your dad has gotten used to his. It just takes time and the willingness to keep trying. It works.

SO your insurance will pay for the cpap machine? That is great. The other sounds awful. Well I wouldn't like the full mask either but I guess I would get used to it. My doctor tried to get me to do the study and get the full mask machine but I couldn't handle it. Glad it is working for you.

Yes, my insurance is paying for it. It pays $100 a month and I pay $11 and change each month for 10 months and then it is paid for. My insurance has Apria monitor my usage of the machine by having a modem on it, and they receive data for the amount of time it is on my my face and it's actually being used. It can tell the difference of it just being on and on my face. After 3 months they will then be satisfied that I'm actually using the machine so they continue paying for it.
I send the modem back or take it back after 3 months. They will call me or email me when to do that.

hi dear PQ thats really good to hear. My husband has a Cpap as well and he got used to it pretty quick after they told him how to use it when he did the sleep study last year. He also uses it when he only wants to have a nap and I am glad he got used to it so well.
