Hello Lotters, I remember one interview coming from Risa Hontiveros, one of the members of the group. one of the question was the party involvement with the New People's Army. but She defended that the party's local leaders are hunted down by the NPA and they are against armed conflict. Then, now it faces disqualification because they assumed that it's not part of the marginalized sector? from what i can remember Akbayan has been around even before Aquino Became President. it's allied with the administration, but some one others assumed it as the wing of the administration because his sisters donated funds to the party. not a referral link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1ZGIy1eFc4&feature=g-all-u What do you think of this?

I am sad that the party is experiencing such things. I mean, we can't deny the fact that their leaders are active enough when it comes to national issues, unlike the other partylist groups that just sleeps in the corner and they are not doing something for the marginalized sector...

Hello Aabuda, they have been around for a very long time now. maybe they thought mainly about the Aquino sisters being donator that makes them not marginalized. they were wrong about it. i hope they are not removed from the list of candidate party list groups. there must be a concrete reason why they are being threatened to be removed and support facts about them not marginalize

Those who are trying to have Akbayan disqualified are hitting on the personalities and not the organization itself. Akbayan was indeed formed prior to Aquino's presidency, and I still think the party represents a marginalized sector regardless whether some of their representatives are holding office under the present administration. Also, under a democratic system, anyone could donate on any recognized political party especially if both share the same ideals and advocacy.

Hello beamer, that's the problem, there are other political parties that are actually bogus and have been disqualified. but i wonder why it has to be akbayan, is it just because of the Aquino sister's contribution, that's just a bit much to me. i think they have the right to support them and your right we are under democracy and they are not a bogus party
