Well, Hurricane Sandy is just around the corner. I'm wondering how right the forecasters and meteorologists are going to be. Schools are closed here in PA today and tomorrow. My job is closing at noon, and since I go in at 1pm, looks like I'll be home with the kids today and tomorrow. So we went to Kmart and got some games for the kids, batteries for flashlights and lanterns, extra food and canned food, just in case, and filled up the gas tank in the car. Looks like I have a nice long day of cleaning and organizing the house! Yay! We raked up leaves on Saturday, and from the winds already, it looks like we did absolutely nothing since there are leaves all over the ground... again! Ugghhh... :)

I'm in northeastern Pa. I had a dentist appointment for 1 pm, but just got a call to set it up for another day because of the fear of power outages. I only have Mondays available, so now I'm waiting another two weeks. I'm glad it was only for a cleaning and a check up.
The schools are open here. Tomorrow they may not be. People are already clearing shelves in the stores and they say there is no bread left in this area. We may have to bake some. I hope everyone stays safe. Sandy go away.

That's where I am, too! We went to Price Chopper yesterday morning and it was crazy there! Some aisles, like the canned foods, bread, and paper product aisles, were so crowded you had to wait in line like the cash registers. It was worse than when it snows here. I can't believe the schools are still open in your area. Where do you live?

The schools have to be closed due to the danger of Hurricane Sandy. Maybe you won't be able to go to your job due to the damage that may happen. Well done for getting in extra food, flashlights and lanterns. Your car is also filled up with fuel. Yes in the fall time many leaves fall down. Outside my bungalow the landscape is covered with fallen leaves. I like the yellow, orange and golden colors. My daughter is 3 years old and she likes to walk in the crunchy leaves.

Yes, they closed due to the high wind warnings. It's not raining here, yet. But it will be later tonight. There's flash flood warnings for the whole state, but we're not in the flood area. We're higher up, so I'm sure the wind will be whipping here. My son and daughter, almost 6 and just turned 4 years old, love the leaves, as well. My son had a ball in them on Saturday when we were cleaning them up. He was jumping in them, throwing them around, burying himself in them... he had so much fun. My daughter was napping because she was crabby, so she missed out that day. ha!

I grew up back east and during that time I never saw storms like Sandy and Irene. I remember being down the Jersey Shore a few times and having to evacuate but the occasional hurricane near an actual ocean seems somewhat reasonable to me. I've heard stories of people very far inland buying extra supplies and preparing for the worst. I even have a friend who lives in Ohio that says they'll probably even have some flooding and possibly lose power. I'm going to have to tune into the news I'm interested to see how much damage this storm does.
