Sometimes I wonder why do I keep information in my computer when the machine hides it from me

. A few days ago I saved a nice recipe for a leek soup. It even had pictures. I specially liked it because I`m growing leeks and it is time to pull out some to make room for a bit of arugule. I searched and searched and the recipe was not found. So I checked at the several sites that send me recipes. All of them had other leek soups but not the one I had looked at. Some people know how to ask the computer to return hidden information. I specially love at how Garcìa does that in "Criminal Minds" on TV

. Clearly I`m no technological nerd. I`m an ol`witch trying to concoct a leek soup in a cauldron. I do not want a potato leek soup. I want a leek soup as I saw ... where? Does this happen to you? How Do you react? Share!

Hi, Marguicha! I know how frustrating you must be feeling for not being able to see that recipe among your files. And I have been through that, too. I felt like throwing my laptop against the wall for not finding real important files myself!

I keep in perfect order my most important files. But I never thought that a leek soup recipe would become important at one point. It`s not that important either, but I feel that the machine knows more than I do and I hate that

If I come across something that is especially important to me, I will bookmark it. If it isn't so important but I'd like to show it to someone else, I check my history. Have you tried checking your history for that leek soup recipe?

Instead of deleting them, why don't you print them out or put them on a CD and then delete them. That way you will still have the recipes you like but won't be clogging your computer.

I should start doing that with the family pictures. They are far more important than recipes. I did not find the recipe I was looking for, but I had pulled out enough leeks for a soup so I made up one. It turned out awesome.

My life is full of recipe because I love to cook. Maybe what I should do would be to delete all recipes and start all over again.

I'm pretty good at bookmarking sites so I can find them again - I wish I could train someone to do the right thing and just stop using that other browser and quit trying to do stupid things that I have to get on her computer and delete them!

I have a place for main dishes, other for soups and other for starters. Yet it`s not there. Probably I should throw away some of the recipes I`m not so interested in.

Every time I have left things in the computer, I have been sorry later on. I know that the things we are more interested in are deleted by the beast

. I know it, I was raised in a world of pencils and paper, yet I don´t use them. Dumb me!

Give your computer a good slap on the wrist and let her know who is the boss!...just kidding...but when I see something I like I just copy or save to a selected file and name the file so that way I can find it again.

I need an axe! I want to kill the beast! It won´t understand. I wasn´t too much interested in that recipe when I saw it. But later I became aware that my leeks were big enough to gather them.

Oh my gosh, I think we had the same abusive relationship with our computers. My coputer had been driving me nuts for weeks.

I just got mine upgraded and its giving me a lot of hard time. Sorry if I have similar topic on the same manner but I understand your pain. The search option of my computer is not as friendly, its keeps on giving me results I dont want.

I think there are number of times that we wish that our computer are more easier to order and more 'obedient' to orders. I think my computer gave me enough frustrations to equate if I had a child. Anyway, usually my computer problems are very difficult since I am no technut. Also, I find it had to remember to bookmark something when I really liked it. I surf hundreds of pages and sometimes, I liked something and pass it. I remember, in retrospect, and it's gene. Maybe you try to remember what keywords you used or search engines you used.

My computer (and probably your too) are rebelious children. I cannot manage to learn Windows 7 and I have to start all over with Windows 8. I´m sure there´s a technut who wants me to become a slave

hi friend, i have not been active on Mylot lately and missed some of you discussions, anyway as mentioned, book marking is the simplest thing to do, another way is to make a screen shot and edit it in paint to get only the essentials, then save it on your pictures or documents and remember the file name so you just have to type it in case you need to pull it out

I saw this recipe when I wasn´t even thinking of making a leek soup. All I remembered later were the pictures. I checked what my computer had in leeks and leek soup and the page with the picture was not there. Sometimes I delete things, thinking I´ll never use them

my computer can be very unpredictable sometimes, and not do what i want it to, or what i expected it to do. sometimes its almost human, its responses are so unpredictable. though at the moment it is behaving quite well, though it was going a bit crazy a week ago, and i had to spend a bit of time giving it my attention and finding out what was wrong with it, and since then its been a lot happier. maybe it is just like a human.

I don`t share my computer. Now my grandson is going to reformat it because it`s way past fixing it in another way, but I am placing what I want to keep in a hard disk that he plugged in the old computer.

You can always review your browser history. You might have to read through a few sites but I bet you could find it that way. Good luck hope you find your missing recipe.

The missing recipe was not important, really. What pi$$es me is that I know next to nothing about computing, yet it`s my main addiction.
