Obama-care strikes hard blow

Now everyone knows I have no love for our government the way it is being run. I am even more upset now then yesterday. Today my husband had a meeting about his job's health insurance. They where told that because of all the new things needing to be included in our health care package via Obama-care the cost of our insurance will be doubling. Not only will it be doubling but due to the increased cost the company will NOT be giving cost of living raises this year or next. We barely scrape by, my husband makes what he did two years ago but with the cost of living jumping so high, the take home pay that used to leave us a little extra each month barely makes the bills. This will make it so that we cannot pay all of our bills with out another form of income coming in. So really how can people tell me that Obama-care is better and cheaper? We will be paying out almost $400 more a month on forced services we will not use and know we will not use. We are the lowest end of the "middle class" and when I say lower end we do not get help from our state because my husband makes $47 over the income limit, though each year that limit increases and at this rate we will qualify by next year even with a good paying job. I was under the impression this was supposed to help the people but I would love to know how it is helping those people out there like us just trying to make ends meet in what was once good paying jobs, we are slipping down the ladder not by what we have done but because of this government and what it hasn't done. Last year I became an Avon consultant to make ends meet, this year I will need to take time from my children (who I home school) and home just to try to be able to pay our bills.

I don't have health insurance at all. I don't even qualify in my state for medicaid because my kids are all over 18 and I'm still ten years away from qualifying as a senior.

Can't get what you can't afford and I certainly can't go to the local insurance store and shoplift it.

I lucked out in this regard. I took an early retirement from my job due to medical problems and wasn't eligible for Medicare for another few years after that. Five I think. And the medical center I was going to just happened to have a sort of an insurance that paid for me for those five years. Can't recall the name of it. I wasn't aware I was eligible and they told me about it and signed me up for it. I was lucky.

and if you don't get it soon you'll be paying a fine for not having it!

....Ya whatever happened to cost of living raises? I haven't seen one of those for years now. A couple any way. I am living on SSD and its not fun. Used to look forward to a cost of living raise to make it alittle easier. The cable has gone up and groceries. And no cost of living. Can't save any for holidays or extras. Not fun at all to live like this. And Obama is still in office and he isn't making things any easier.

Yes one of the ladies who buys Avon from me is in a similar situation. We have been trying to help her out around the house as much as possible now that her husband is gone and her son is on disability after a car accident. My girls adore her she's like an extra Grandma!

My daughter got a $26.00 cost of living raise. Medicare takes $20.00 of it every month. I struggle every month to make sure she has what she needs and to pay the bills.

Yep. As soon as you get a raise of any kind one of these places takes most of it anyway. You can't get ahead for nuttin'!
