A few days ago I watched a travel program about Ecuador. The person presenting on it showed a place people thought was the Equator was where a special monument was. There was a line the people thought was the Equator and one side of it was north of the Equator and one side of it was south of the Equator. The presenter said that the French had put that there in history. In the modern day they know the Equator line is a different place. The presenter when there and showed it in the program.
In 1994 I stood on the Equator line at Sumatra in Indonesia. I jumped about north of it and south of it. I found it very exciting and enjoyable. I hope that was the true line. In 2006 I flew on a small plane from Male to Gan in the Maldives. They said we had flown over the Equator. In Sweden in 1990 I went past the Arctic line. Wow.
What do you think about them finding the Equator was in a different place?
Have you been past the Equator or similar line?

I've never been to the Equator but I've learned a lot about it in history, I'm teaching it right now to my daughter in home school. I think its really fascinating that an imaginary line separates the southern and northern hemispheres. It really neat that you got to jump across it, I'm sure that it was the correct line because the French were the ones with Descartes who created simple math.

I think such things like a particular demarcation line like Equator, Arctic Line etc give us exciting thoughts. Even if we cross a little thing, it seems quite exciting. I saw a picture somewhere which showed one half of globe in light, and other half in dark. It was shot from an airplane, and looks quite great picture.

Hi Maxine, very interesting discussion. Ecuador and Equator makes confusion. Ecuador is a country in South America. But Equator is line of our globe. The central line which divided the north and south part of the globe. The line of Equator crossed Ecuador. The Sun directly shines over Equator line. The regions near equator line(north & south)are under hot temperature. I live near Equator line.
