Well I got a call from hubby to go pick up our new washer. Guess who forgot they put the trash cart out? Mind you I was in a rush to meet him, rushed to get the kids dressed from their pj's, dealing with their griping, and totally forgot it was down there in the pitch black road. Well more money I don't have so now I have to get a new side view mirror. So much for putting out the trash cart before dark, I guess I'll never do that again.

If it was me, I would just get a hand mirror and glue it onto the rear view mirror frame until I could replace it. Looks awful but it would work. I once connected a coat hanger to my windshield wipers when the motor quit working and would saw that hanger back and forth when it rained--my arm got wet but I could see!
Go buy a hand mirror from the dollar store or find one around the house.

Oh honey it wasn't the mirror it was the whole thing I tore it right off. The mirror itself was intact it look like jaws took a bite out of the piece that extends the side view mirror.
Hubby got some sort of adhesive and some screws and put it into place. I know it was a cheap fix but I don't like it but it'll work I guess for now.
How long did you do that with the coat hanger? I hope it was during warmer weather you had to do that... it would be awful if it was winter!

So did you ever get your trash bin up? *LOL* I feel the same way about mine in winter especially when my driveway ices over. Eitherway that's why I put it down so early so I wouldn't have to worry about it in the dark and the closer we creep to winter and less day light

one time my daughter ran into the side of a parked truck with the tailgate down and knocked off my side view mirror. I didn't have money to fix it right away so I took black electrical tape and wound around it and went over that with black duct tape. It held well for a long time until I got it fixed. (actually, come to think of it, I ended up getting a whole new door.)

Well the correct way I know cost about $165 when someone else took off that same mirror a few years back to get it properly replaced. I'm sure it's a bit more now. Hubby rigged it for under $10, I don't like it but that's how it's gotta be for now.

hi 3snugglebunnies wow side view mirror went kaput thats sad. In the dark I
take you did not see the trashcart before you felt it go smash. One time someone tried to park a too large car in a too s mall space next to our car. when we came out our side view mirror was completely smashed. but whoever did it stuck a small envelope with money inside and it read sorry I thought we had more space. do take this check and get a new mirror. we got to our favorite service station and the worker there came out and said "mr Hatly I am so sorry i was in a hurry to get something and get back here to w rk I will put that mirror on for you since I was the one who broke it.It was kind of funny as we had done business with this man for
years. he was a really honest mechanic who never over charged us for car repairs.

This week it will be a day late because of the holiday. I hope I remember to put it out.
