Is it a piece of advice in which you see wisdom?

Very nice quote Urbandekay! I do see the wisdom in this statement. "Do as I Do not just as I say" would be another way of phrasing it. Or "Actions speak louder than words". We used to call these "Grandma's Rules".
Never follow a preacher that simply qotes. Rather pay attention to what he actually does. Kind of messes with MyLot a bit doesn't it...lol

Indeed and that is how I interpreted it but I am wondering now if there is not something more; is the author also perhaps warning against the corrupting influence of living to removed from production of food, shelter, etc. warning to the scholar who is not also a farmer?
Thoreau said something like, What knows the politician of government of the kitchen

Very true. How can you believe and follow someone who has only lots of words but no actions? Action speaks louder than words.
Good day!
