I went to Goa with friends with fifteen dollars in each ones pocket.I was twenty year old graduate fresh out of college.I had read about the beautiful beaches of Goa and wanted to see it before I went for my higher studies. So five friends pooled all our resources for a bus ticket to Goa and when the journey was over, and when we reached our destination,we had per head balance of ten dollars each.We rented a shack and slept near the beach. We cooked our food and carried snacks and went sightseeing by renting a bike, on the condition that we will repair their two bikes which were in broken down condition. We acted as guides to tourist and increased our capital again by five dollars. We ate rice and dal and had water to drink, but we five collected enough money to see the whole of Goa and then return back to our studies. We enjoyed the sun and sands of Goa at a minimum cost but together we pooled our savings to have a wonderful holiday.

I very much liked reading your backpackers diary of when you and your friends visited Goa on a low budget. Pooling your resources was a great way to afford to bus to get there. I am glad you afforded to rent a shack and slept close to the beach. You have some enterprising ideas like repairing the bikes and acting as tourist guides. You ate in an economical way too. I wished to travel around Europe when I was 18 years old. I got a job as a children's nanny in Finland over the summer. My wages were high and I saved them up. I was able to travel on an inter rail ticket around Europe. I visited Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Austria and Hungary. I stayed in dorms in youth hostels and shared a private room in Hungary.

hi maximax, That's so good, really adventurous traveled so many countries with less amount of money. I really wish to do like that, but i think its highly impossible to travel to other countries from our country. Even travelling within our country requires lot of money.

That is so nice, good to know you've enjoyed your trip. I haven't been to Goa. I really love traveling and hopefully me and my family could go to one nice trip without spending too much.

If you are young and energetic try it.You will enjoy as you travel on a shoe string budget. This is your own money and that will add more meaning to your adventure.

ohh If i am not wrong you are from Kerala. Travelling from Kerala to Goa doesn't cost much i guess. As you managed it we can say that. But you did i well. Guiding the tourists and earning money is good.
