maybe they should hire some one else.
But maybe I wouldn't recommend the Philippines either since we have mutual defense treaty with west.
in fact, maybe South Korea should be recommend as the Main host of this ASEAN Assembly so that there would neutrality a bit. though it has an alliance with the US too, am not sure if they have any claim to these islands. maybe they can be reliable mediator to this dispute
Just sick that China wants it all and using Cambodia to block any moves to share it(Disputed Islands) among with the rest of ASEAN members. Joint ownership happened in some parts of Africa,why can't it be done here?
sad that despite of the President's (Phils) disagreement, it seems the Cambodian PM is in the Grip by China to do as it pleases.

Well you cannot blame Cambodia since they were allied with China for a long time since then. Besides they do not have any claim on the disputed territory that is why as much as they can they do not want to be involve in making a joint declaration. I think economically they are still dependent with China so they are quite adamant in supporting any claimant of this disputed territories.

Hello Rsa101, I don't feel the host being neutral to the situation because China is obviously at the advantage to this situation.What's wrong with joint ownership anyways? such pathetic thing to know that they have become so greedy lately. well, we can't let them have the islands or they're going to pollute it the way they did to their mainland

I think our government stands not for joint ownership but is just asking like a declaration of support that Philippine's claim for the island is legitimate and ASEAN nations are supporting Philippine claim over the island. But of course Cambodia is not keen on approving this since they are quite tied with China on the back. I think they and Vietnam are the countries that were under the influence of Chinese Government when they tried to join ASEAN community. But of course Vietnam is at odds with China as well since they also have a claim on this islands.

South Korea my friend is not part or can never be part of Asean cause it's not in Southeast Asia
, it's a part of east Asia where Japan and China belongs. South Korean claims to another group of disputed islands is entirely different from ours, the Senkaku ( presently occupied by Japan) islands or Diaoyu in Chinese is unfinished business Japan left after the end of WWII, sorry but it's entirely different from territorial disputes in the West Philippine Seas that involves us, Vietnam, and other claimnants like Brunei and Malaysia and Taiwan (also part of East Asia) Really hope I made everything clear

Hello Louievill, I guess they have their own problems now because it's North Korea that they will be dealing with incase war brokes out. China is more powerful now i think it's a waste of time to just use the resources as way to avenge china from past Japanese mistakes,i mean look at it they're not even allowed to have an Aircraft Carrier because they are banned by the US after the war
